Disclosure Day review
From legendary Director Stephen Spielberg comes Disclosure Day his new sci-fi movie about the human race not being alone. And right off the bat this movie gets going with little to no setup other than introductions to characters. And the two main characters here played by Emily Blunt and Jack O Connell are the real backbone of the movie Blunt in particular is outstanding throughout. In true Spielberg style it’s big bold storytelling full of questions about mortality, religion and the ultimate question are we truly alone in the universe?
Stephen Spielberg's last couple of movies have felt somewhat lacking in terms of charm and what his fans have come to love about his films. In a way that old charm is here for most of Disclosure Day but on the other hand it feels painfully dull and menotonous at other points. It's cast do a great job and do bring the action, emotion and Alien technology to life in a really interesting way but really apart from the final act that is utterly mesmarising I found Disclourse Day a bit of a slog to get through which is a shame.
If you're a big Stephen Spielberg fan I have no doubt you'll enjoy this a lot infact I reckon you'll love it. It's full of what he is known for and while the overall script is lacking at points it's not all bad as the final act is captivating and elevates this movie from a standard sci-fi movie to one of real true promise. Not the masterclass of a movie I was expecting but Disclosure Day is good if a bit underbaked. Enjoyable!
