Superman & Lois 3x5 : Head On review
Be warned there will be SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
This show has been on quite the roll as of late so it's not surprising that there'd be a somewhat stumbling block eventually. That's not to say this is a bad episode but really it just felt a bit dull and safe. With that being said let's get into it as it begins as the boys tell Lois of a Valentines Day dance that is planned. They're going along with Candice, Natalie and even Sarah. Lois reassures both her boys, dad and Clark that she is more than well enough to attend. Today is her second treatment of chemo-therapy and after what happened last time it's unlikely she will attend as her dad asks Clark to really look after her health first and everything with Bruno Mannheim and Intergang later. Speaking of Bruno Mannheim he is directly in the picture now as Lois gets her second treatment at his hospital which is named Hob's Bay. Her and Clark both attend and not surprisingly really Lois uses it as a way to get into various hospital files trying to find about Henry Miller and a doctor named Dr Hook. The toll everything is taking on Lois is pretty evident as she sits down to begin getting chemo alongside two other patients.
As Lois sneaks off with an ID that will gain her access to where she needs to go Clark is left behind to talk with the other two cancer patients. It's a pretty emotional scene as Clark learns of the true horror of cancer as one of the patients daughter lost her life at 37 to breast cancer which is what Lois has. Just another way of this show showcasing Clark in such a human way I loved it. As for Lois she does get into an office but gets caught in the act by none other than Bruno Mannheim himself who tells her that he only wants to save lives. It all ties back to what happened with his mother years ago and now he's just doing his upmost to save lives in South Metropolis. He shows Lois his research facility and ends up giving her Dr Hook files which Lois says she is going to blaze through for more information.
The episode draws to a close as the Valentine's Day party gets underway with everyone present except for Clark and Lois. Turns out Lois is not up to going and as everyone arrives back home they begin to create memories of their own as Lois dances with her boys in the living room as they're all dressed up. After all this could be the final time she sees them like this (unlikely I know) but it's a bit of a sort point for sure. The real meat and potatoes of this episode however is when another of Mannheim's ''patients'' attacks the D.O.D, he gets interrupted and seemingly defeated by Superman but while they were fighting other Intergang members where digging deep into the cupboards of various facilities until they found what they needed..and what they did they need?? well surprisingly it's actually the dead body of Bizarro from last season which was a bit of a shock to be honest. Bruno Mannheim and others basically state that he will be up and ready to fight soon as it looks like we're going to get a Superman vs Bizarro rematch once this show returns on April 25th. Overall this wasn't a bad episode it was very solid indeed with a great reveal at the end. Not every episode can be perfect and this shows but that's okay we move on and look forward to what comes next.
