The Monkey (2025) review

The latest movie from Osgood Perkins Writer / Director of Longlegs comes The Monkey a short story by Stephen King. The story follows a family of twin boys and their mom who after the death of their father are gifted a wind up toy Monkey with some dark and sinister forces behind it. Right off the bat The Monkey shows just how gruesome and gory it is when intenstines begin to fly out of a store owner as the Monkey begins to play it's drum. With each twist of it's wind up section and the final bang of it's drum someone dies in a very vicious manner. The music that follows when the Monkey bangs it's drum will be stuck in my mind for days to come. The Monkey is far more a comedy horror than of Perkin's Longlegs which was at times full blown demonic horror. In that sense it's way more fun to watch and let it all unfold in all it's gory gruesome way.
