The Fall Guy (2024) review
Stuntmen. The unsong hero's of Hollywood and big blockbuster action. Based on a TV show of the same name The Fall Guy follows the best stuntment in the game Colt Seavers who after suffering a seemingly career ending back injury is flung back into the action when the main star of big blockbuster goes missing. Ryan Gosling shines as Colt Seavers in a role that he was born to play. He's charming, witty and so cool he'll just about melt your heart. Set for the most part in Australia The Fall Guy bolsts not just an incredible cast but some top tier action.
Ryan Gosling is quickly turning into the quite the action star with this movie further soldifying him as an action hero. Here his co-star is Emily Blunt and the two play well off of one another with a relationship that goes far back before Colt's back injury. Once he is flung back into the action the two reconnect and while cheesey it is believable and very entertaining.
The Fall Guy is hands down the best action movie this year so far. It starts off a tad slow but as it goes on it just keeps getting better and better. The final act is thrilling and had me on the edge of my seat throughout. Special mention must go to a scene that involves Blunt's character singing Phill Collins Against All Odds as Goslin's Seaver slides through the street on a piece of metal while fighting off goons, it sounds absurd but it's wonderfully silly and brilliant. The Fall Guy is pure popcorn fun and really worth your time!
