Superman & Lois 3x8 : Guess Who's Coming to Dinner review

Be warned there will be SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

This week's episode of Superman and Lois is most certainly a tale of two halves. The first half just didn't do anything for me infact it was quite dull and meandering. But the second half truly kicked things into gear and some really big developments went down. The episode begins as Lois is seen continuing her chemo therapy. We're shown the routine of Lois and Clark and the toll it's taken on them both especially Lois as she is seen in bed in complete pain. The following morning Johnathan officially becomes apart of the Smallville Firefighter team. He even gets his own helmet and jacket and like his brother now thinks he is doing the work of a hero. We're soon at the Smallville Gazette and after getting a message from Chrissy about an article Clark decides that Lois needs to have final say on it before publishing. The front page of the article is about Bruno Mannheim's secret wife who after last week we now know is called Peia. She had been the one attacking and murdering people throughout this season so far. Lois isn't too keen on publishing the article right now but Clark says give her a day or two to Chrissy. But this doesn't mean the digging into the background of Peia is over far from it as Clark and Chrissy do some digging of their own.

Johnathan's first major job as a firefighter is soon upon us and Kyle specifically asks Johnathan to stay by the truck and don't interfere. Of course things go wrong however when Jordan shows up attempting to out the fire himself. He bursts threw one of the doors carrying a man who has been affected by inhaling too much smoke. He drops him at the feet of Johnathan before rushing off leaving Kyle thinking that it was Johnathan who went into business for himself. Johnathan's job is already hanging in the balance and by the end of the episode it seems like Kyle and the rest of the Firefighter crew are onto Superboy as not for the first time they've found some form of ice inside of the building which can only mean Superboy's ice breath which Jordan used to out the flames. Is there going to be a war between brothers? or will things work out? I'm interested to find out. At the end of last weeks episode it was revealed that Matteo who has been dating Natalie was actually the son of Bruno Mannheim and Peia. Well this week it is Natalie's turn to meet the Mannheim's as she goes to Metropolis to meet them over dinner.

The episode draws to a close inside of Bruno Mannheim's eatery as John Henry Irons shows up. He didn't know that Matteo was the son of Bruno Mannheim but once he finds out he rushes to get Natalie out of there. Once inside John Henry is met with nothing but guns to the face as last time Bruno and him met Bruno told him if he ever saw him again it would be lights out. John Henry takes quite a beating here from Bruno including repeated blows to the face. John Henry does manage to get the upper hand in the fight when his suit arrives but once Peia begins to use her powers it becomes a lot more dangerous. This is when Clark overhears and rushes to the scene as Peia just continues to use her powers on both Superman and Steel. She uses her powers so much that she straight up faints with her only option to go to the hospital before she dies. Superman ends up bringing her and while he is optimistic about her future even though the cancer she had has spread John Henry is the total opposite stating that she is a horrible person, a murderer and she doesn't deserve to go on. Well for now she is but she hasn't got long left according to Superman. Back at the Kent farm and Clark and Lois are seen sitting on the porch together. After going threw some files from ARGUS about Bruno Mannheim that her dad had given her earlier Lois comes to the conclusion that Lex Luthor of all people may actually be innocent and has been falsely imprisoned. Bruno Mannheim's threat however seems to only grow and grow. It seems like Lex will be arriving to this show very soon and I for one can't wait to see how that unfolds! as for the ending of this episode well it all deals with the aftermath and developments throughout. Lois is still very much sick while the boys do make up but are now on defensive as Kyle and his crew seem to be closing in on Superboy like I mentioned. As for John Henry he has taken Natalie's phone from her and banned her from seeing Matteo again. Speaking of Matteo we see him arguing with his father as his mother just sits in hospital. The episode ends as we get another look at Bizarro who is still in Bruno's testing facility strapped down. He awakens however as his eyes open the episode ends and it looks like Superman is going to have a LOT on his plate very soon with both Lex Luthor, Bruno Mannheim and now Bizarro all roaming around. This was an episode of two halves like I said at the beginning but the second half definitely outweighed the first half leading to an overall great episode indeed. The quality in this show really is something to behold!
