Batman - Dark Vengeance : Vengeance timeline
Opening narration :
A lull fell over Gotham as crime had sunk to a new low thanks to the combined efforts of both the GCPD and the vigilante known as ''The Batman'' after working together for almost 5 years on and off things for the first time between the two parties seemed to be going smoothly after an eventful and rocky start that included the vigilante being branded a criminal in Gotham only to overcome those and much more leading to the arrest and capture of notorious villains and criminals alike, was it time to relax or would a new threat soon rear it's head in Gotham?
Alfred is seen in the bat-cave holding a freshly brewed pot of tea

Dick changed out of his Robin suit placing it into storage he then said goodnight to both Bruce and Alfred before leaving the bat-cave, heading upstairs Dick could still hardly believe Bruce's words to him and was beaming with pride and joy

Night came over Gotham, the GCPD is show in total lockdown someone or something has been creating havoc while the rest of Gotham was fast asleep

Gordan who is trying to catch his breath and stay calm drops his phone is sheer shock and disbelief as he sees a figure standing before him dressed in all black wielding a gun wearing a Devil like mask, the person doesn't speak just stands there.

Shots from the gun go off as soon as the world Vengeance leaves the killers lips, 3 shots 3 bullets all connect with Jim Gordon knocking him to the ground all that can be heard is the thud upon impact as one word escapes Gordon's mouth.

The GCPD was was like a barren wasteland with not a sound to be heard only that of incoming GCPD police vehicles who Gordon had contacted for back, upon arrival they rush into the building and find Gordon along with two others all in rough shape with things not looking good at that moment in time, morning was soon broke across Gotham and it wasn't long before news of the attack was seen, heard and noticed by the population.

''Breaking news here in Gotham as overnight the GCPD was forced into lockdown by what the GCPD are claiming to be a masked figure who shot three officers including this city's Commissioner Jim Gordon who was shot 3 times in the chest luckily for him he was wearing a bulletproof vest which Doctors here at Gotham National Hospital say saved his life, that being said Gordon is still in a critical but stable condition same goes for the other two officers who were the victims of this hideous attack, I think I speak for all my co-workers and this entire city when I say we wish Gordon and his two colleagues a speedy recovery, this is Jack Ryder reporting for Gotham Morning News''
Inside Gotham National Hospital and Jim Gordon is very much still in a lot of pain as none other than his daughter Barbara Gordon can be seen holding his hand squeezing it ever so softly while massaging it with her own

''Yes sir that is what this new threat is calling itself and already it seems to have made quite an impact having almost killed Commissioner Gordon, now Master Bruce I know the GCPD and ''The Batman'' have never seen eye to eye but maybe you should pay Mr Gordon a visit as Bruce Wayne after all you would do well to keep up appearances''
Bruce let out a sigh as deep down he knew Alfred was right as he always was, Bruce needed to go see Gordon at Gotham National Hospital and that is where he set off for with a strange feeling in his stomach as he knew that this ''attack'' wasn't just a random act of violence or a just a meaningless threat from a low level thug or crime gang this was something bigger..much bigger, it wasn't long before Bruce was at Gordon's bedside and to say their relationship was anything but social with be a big understatement, apart from some parties and other social gatherings the two barely interacted infact it was the adoption process of Dick Grayson where Bruce and Jim really got to know one another even if they still didn't really get along as ''friends'' as for The Batman and Gordon's relationship however? well it was and still is built on a mutual bond of respect, trust and a sense of honor..Bruce begins to speak to Gordon!

A knock at the door interrupts Bruce and Gordon's conversation as a soft voice is heard from just behind the door as it opens

Barbara storms out of the room in a huff leaving Gordon shocked and Bruce a bit suspicious, could there be more to Barbara's outburst? or are emotions just running high given what has transpired?? whatever it was Bruce decided in that moment that he would try and keep an eye on Barbara Gordon

Bruce Shakes Gordon's hand and leaves the hospital heading straight back to Wayne Manor he fails to notice that while inside someone had placed a small tracker onto the side of his car right behind one of the wheels had Vengeance struck again??
At the bat-cave Alfred is seen rewiring a new piece of tech that will aid Batman in what is now year 5 of his ''project'' to clean up Gotham from not just low level thugs and gangs but also from corruption at the highest of levels

Bruce knew Alfred didn't exactly approve of this method but he pushed on knowing that this may be the only way for Gordon to open up to him and even then it was still a risk, Bruce began to suit up while Alfred just watched on not uttering a single word

Alfred looked on confused as The Batman sped off in the bat-mobile straight out of the bat-cave, what did Bruce mean by for Barbara?? Alfred now alone had work of his own to do and got going immediately as he headed upstairs via the elevator, little did either know however that someone was already cave..Vengeance!! this character looked around the bat-cave just taking in everything from the Giant Penny and Riddler Trophies scattered around to even vials of the powerful drug venom it truly was a never ending collection of Batman ''trophies and victories'' from 5 years of crime fighting in Gotham, Vengeance finally removed it's mask as they arrive at the bat-computer it's a shocking turn of events when Vengeance turns out to be a woman but not just any ordinary woman, a woman who clearly knows Bruce Wayne and someone who surely has evil intentions on her mind.
With Alfred upstairs and The Batman going to see Gordon at the hospital this infiltrator was left to her own devices but instead of doing anything she just sits in the bat-computers chair waiting for Bruce Wayne to return, The Batman knowing which room Gordon is in used ''other'' means to get inside and it's not long before a black shadow with white eyes is seen standing by Gordon's bedside startling him

Jim scoffed but began to sit up in his bed the respect he had for The Batman was clearly evident

''I gather this is no social visit huh?? you know Bruce Wayne was here earlier?? yeah! last time I saw him was at my party leaving with 2 beautiful women, never knew he cared about anyone but himself but I guess it's true you should never judge a book by it's cover, so what you want or more importantly who do you want to know about??''

Gordon knew it, he knew sooner rather than later he would have to tell The Batman about what happened the night before even if he didn't exactly remember much as it was all a blur once he saw this ''Vengeance'' character standing in front of him

''To be honest the whole thing is a bit of a blur but I do remember one thing..a mask, it was wearing a devil mask, the person was of a slim build and it's voice sounded like something straight from the bowels of hell itself'''

Gordon reaches around to the table for his phone but as he turns back around The Batman is gone disappeared without a sound or trace, little did Gordon or even Batman know that they were being eves dropped on by a very interested Barbara Gordon who seemed to be taken a back by Batman's presence, but just what is her though process here??
The meeting with Gordon proved somewhat fruitful as far as ''Vengeance'' was concerned, Batman was driving back to the bat-cave while he was contacted by Alfred on the built in speaker phone

''I managed to learn that this ''Vengeance'' character wears a Devil like mask and uses a voice modulator to speak, no idea on any motives or reasons for targeting Gordon yet but I will out why and put a stop to this madness''

''Very good sir at least we're on the right track now, ah yes before I forget I don't meant to alarm you but not long after you left I got an alert from the cave that the main computer had been activated shall I go investigate??''
Batman's reaction to this question was quick and abrupt

Batman upped the engine power of the bat-mobile to maximum igniting it's afterburner as he rushed to get back to the bat-cave, and it is back at the bat-cave he soon was the moment the car pulled into the center of it's pedestal Batman jumped out immediately laying down a warning for whoever or whatever was waiting for him

Bruce just hangs his head almost in defeat still trying to process everything, how could his mom not only keep Elizabeth from everyone for so long but also how could she just up and abandon her own daughter?? much like this entire situation it didn't add up something just felt off, how was Bruce / Batman going to tell Gordon about the identity of his suspected killer?? it truly had the potential to alter and change their working friendship forever

Alfred put down the phone and returned to Bruce who was now on the bat-computer frantically trying to find any information at all about Elizabeth Wayne

Bruce took in Alfred's words but didn't respond because deep down he knew he was right of course he was, it was in this moment that Dick Grayson arrived in the bat-cave, he seemed to be spending less and less time there the past 12 months or so instead he was spending his time with other people with extra-ordinary abilities including Victor Stone a former football player who lost his life only to end up being brought back to life by his father as a sort of technical marvel, now he is able to seamlessly connect with any device and even has the ability to control the world wide web, as for the the others there is little known about them expect their names, Raven, Starfire and Beast Boy who all possess abilities meaning that Dick was the only non powered hero of the group which was on trend with Batman being the same within the Justice League, Dick greets Alfred before walking closer towards Bruce who now just sat in his chair as another night of patrol loomed

''Gotham sure has changed so much even more so than The Batman arrived, that being said we'll have to deal with Elizabeth tomorrow, tonight we still have to put a stop to The Penguin's arms deal at the docks, the GCPD hasn't been in contact with me since Gordon was attacked so we're on our own tonight but w'ere more than equipped to deal with this''
Dick nodded as both men began their suit up process, there was actually a lot on Dick's mind about the future and his plan to become his own hero it was something he had discussed with Bruce and his friends Cyborg, Raven, Beast and Starfire but with the news of Bruce having a sister and her being a masked killer now didn't seem like the right time, Bruce needed him now more than ever and he wasn't about to let his mentor down after all Bruce did so much for him when his parents died, Dick Grayson was loyal to the end!

The Bat-mobile pulled up to the docks and for a brief moment it was just silence, that all changed when Batman and Robin got into position and came across the arms deal but Robin noticed something else

Robin handed Batman his AR camera and Batman's suspicions were confirmed, short and tangled orange colored hair was visible under a ski mask won by a seemingly mysterious person who wasn't apart of Penguin's gang

''We need to intervene, not apart of our plan but who ever this person is they are clearly out of their depth and need our help, it's about to get physical, dual combo takedown and remember to always keep moving you are a weapon, a weapon of justice now let's do this''
Batman and Robin jumped into action startling everyone in the process including the masked person, Batman complete with white eyes rose up from a low tier position his long hanging cape pushing him upwards a big tactic of instilling fear in his opponents and criminals, using his tech inside of his cowl Batman was able to map out the area which included 4 penguin things, guns and plenty of ammunition, the fight begins when a thug tries to rush Batman but he is easily brushed aside, the Dynamic Duo get to work, thug #1 is taken out by a strong punch to the jaw by Batman, thug #2 also gets taken out by Batman who uses his grapnel launcher as he is literally dragged from one side of the enclosed area directly into a clothesline from Batman, thug #3 is easy prey for Robin who uses his staff striking the thug multiple times in quick succession, thug #4 gets the worst of the attack as Batman and Robin perform a double take-down on him as Batman and Robin's fists connect with both the back and front of the thug's head instantly leading to a KO

The masked person revealed themselves to Batman and Robin standing before them very timidly

''Don't worry we're not going to hurt you it's okay, now who are you?? and what are you doing here?? don't you know how dangerous it is to be here with everything happening with Penguin and his arm deals??
Batman stared the person down he knew who it was the hair was a dead giveaway

''Doesn't take a lot to figure out that Ms Gordon here is trying to take justice into her own hands and find out about her father's attacker, am I correct??''

''Correct...but only because the GCPD aren't doing anything about all of this, they don't care their boss my FATHER..and I'll be named if I'm just going to sit around as my fad continues to suffer in a hospital bed''
Batman took her words in but decided to stand ground and be firm with her, he took the ski-mask in his hand and walked away from the situation heading towards the bat-mobile

Batman for the second time today was left sunned by yet another big revelation, it was turning into quite the day that's for sure, what was he to do now?? he conferred with Robin a couple of feet away from Barbara as to not have her listen in to what they were discussing

''Were going back to the cave and she's coming with us, she knows too much Dick and I have to re-evaluate the entire situation before we even think about what to do about Elizabeth next...man what a day this has a been..''

Bruce patted Robin on the shoulder before walking towards Barbara pointing at the bat-mobile signalling her to approach it

Barbara just stared at Robin her arms crossed rudely declining his handshake while Batman tried to hide the ever so slight smirk on his face, as they got closer both Barbara's phone and the bat-mobile communication device began to flash bright red with an alert sign

Batman's heart sunk in his chest he knew his so called sister was moving fast in her pursuit of vengeance but even he didn't think it would be this fast he thought there would be more time and boy did he need it

The bat-cave was finally in sight as the car entered at full speed so many thoughts began to run threw Batman's head about how he was going to handle explaining this situation to Barbara, this was done in an inner monologue way

The bat-mobile came to a stop inside the bat-cave, Alfred could be seen at the bat-computer which also received the same live-stream alert that Barbara and Bruce had got and now it was nearing 8pm.

Bruce just nods as an uneasy feeling rushes over him, Alfred finally notices that Barbara Gordon is also present and she seems to be pretty blown away by all of the tech inside of the bat-cave

The conversation was interrupted, it was now 8pm which meant it was time for the live-stream planned by Vengeance! right on cue a person wearing a devil mask appeared on not just the bat-computer but also Barbara's phone and all devices in Gotham that had a viable internet connection, this was more a a hack than it was a live-stream

Bruce's mind wandered again, everyone in the cave apart from Barbara knew that Thomas Elliot wasn't Vengeance but was he helping in some way?? it certainly was possible but would need to be explored further, Vengeance's live-stream continued as the true face under the mask was revealed to everyone in Gotham..

As Dick was now gone the cave felt empty, a sudden thought washed over Bruce's mind, just who was Elizabeth's father?? she failed to mentioned anything about him so far so was it possible to locate him and get his help?? Bruce was running out of time and solutions so this seemed like a safe bet if those even exist in this line of work

As Alfred got to work making tea Bruce sat at the bat-computer and began looking for Elizabeth's father, firstly he quickly searched Elizabeth Wayne which returned no results, 0, zero, nothing! how could that even be possible?? Elizabeth is practically a ghost it seems like, was it possible that maybe she wasn't even a Wayne at all?? Bruce was looking at every outcome while ruling out nothing

Bruce clenched his fist much like he did when he first met Elizabeth earlier that day, both he and Alfred left the bat-cave via the elevator, across Gotham and Barbara Gordon is with her dad who is set to leave and finally return home the following day

Jim was in a state of shock his was racing as two nurses rushed with the room with a female doctor behind them, said female doctor luckily for Jim was Doctor Leslie Thompkins who is a long time friend of not only his but also the Wayne family especially Bruce as he was growing up, in-fact Leslie Thompkins was the doctor Bruce asked to keep a special eye on Gordon as he said to Barbara earlier she was happy to oblige of course

Robin listened to every word Barbara had to say and for the most part he did agree with her, they nearing the bat-cave now as the bike's engine noises echoed all around them as finally they arrived at the cave Robin immediately notices both Alfred and Bruce who were still at the bat-computer

As Alfred pulled up a chair for Barbara she sat down and noticed Bruce talking to Robin by the bat-computer

Barbara was a tad confused, earlier Bruce was kind and understanding but now he seemed cold and almost distant

''It's no problem Jim, it's late now so I've arranged for her to stay here tonight but she'll be at the hospital first thing in the morning to bring you home''

''it's late Barbara, you can stay in one of the spare rooms upstairs away from all of this, I'll have Alfred help you settle in for the night, so what is it you've wanted to ask me??

''Okay well I've been thinking a lot about things since earlier today when you first brought me here and well here goes..I want to help people Bruce..just like you, Robin and even Alfred, I guess what I'm trying to ask here is can I join this setup??''
