The Flash 9x2 : Hear No Evil review
Be warned there will be SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
After what was a highly enjoyable season premiere last week can The Flash continue that form this week as the final season continues. The episode opens up where last weeks ended as we see Barry talking to this new version of Caitlin. As the rest of Team Flash arrive in the room this 3rd version of Caitlin informs them that she has no idea who or what she is. Infact it's double bad news as Chillblaine soon is here too and informs everyone that both Caitlin and Frost are dead. Yup just like that a pretty big bombshell is just dropped on everyone. Chillblaine is here to try and restore either Frost, Caitlin or even both if possible. He doesn't have everyone's blessing much to his annoyance but it's not long before the restoration process gets underway and as you'd expect it's not successful at all. It does lead to Chester figuring out just what happened to Caitlin when she stepped into the chamber which led to the 3rd version of Snow. Chillblaine's lies soon get exposed as his intention is to selfishly bring back just Frost and forget about Caitlin. Barry even confronts him about it which leads to a big blow-off between the two with Chillblaine insisting that he won't give up no matter what.
As all of that is happening at Star Labs a lot more is happening at the club in Central City. But it's not just any club it is a club belonging to none other than Hartley Rathaway (Pied Piper) we haven't see him in quite some time and it looks like he has done quite well for himself since then. He is dating someone too as we see and quite in a serious relationship. We see him leaving the club and outside as rain pores down on the city. He soon gets interrupted by someone and it's none other than the villain The Fiddler who it looks like has gotten herself a serious upgrade. The two have a little bit of a fight but Rathaway manages to get away heading straight for Star Labs which is where he used to work lest we forget. The team get a warning that someone has breached the building and Barry goes to investigate. It's Hartley and his heart has gone into a state of shock. He's looking for Caitlin but Barry says she is away leading to Barry helping one of his former rivals / rouges to steady his heart and find out just what is actually happening here.
The episode draws to a close as this new version of Caitlin begins to understand her place and wants to be at peace with herself and nature. She even makes a decision on her future and it is one of not going into the chamber and living her own life which upsets Chillblaine so much to the point where he ups and leaves declaring that the next time he sees Team Flash there will be trouble. I get what they're trying to do with the Chillblaine character but I don't like him and never will like him. Back with Hartley now and he's gotten himself an upgrade to go on the hunt for The Fiddler who isn't actually the previous Fiddler from season 4 but infact a new version of the character just like Owen Mercer and Captain Boomerang in last weeks episode. Is the Red Death recruiting villains that are new incarnations of past villains?? at the club and with the help of The Flash Hartley manages to stop The Fiddler but in the midst of celebrating a win Barry gets hit with something, it's a boomerang which blinds his and everyone else's vision which leads to Hartley's new and improved gauntlet being stolen by The Fiddler who along with Captain Boomerang escape seemingly heading back to the Red Death once again. The episode isn't over yet however as we've got two more things. First is Barry and Iris who take a night out at a club along with the rest of Team Flash including this new version of Caitlin whose name now is Kion. A bit of an odd choice but it does tie into something Caitlin's father used to say to her when she was younger. The other thing that happens is a pretty big development and it does indeed have to do with The Red Death. As we see the same warehouse from last week but this time we see both Boomerang and Fiddler helping Red Death. They use Hartley's gauntlet and it's power on the speedster which once the process is complete runs into the city until it reaches the top of a building. It sheds it's black aura around it revealing the suit properly and boy does it look good. It's not perfect to see it but it does look really impressive from a first glance. The Red Death basically says they're coming for The Flash and that's how the episode ends. Not as good as last weeks episode but I did enjoy this weeks episode too. A great start to the final season which hopefully can be kept going as the season rolls on. Red Death looks genuinely terrifying which is great to see. What happens next who knows but I'm excited to find out. Episode 3 is up next!
