Superman & Lois 2x14 : Worlds War Bizzare review
Be warned there will be SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
Superman and Lois returns for its final two episodes of the season. It begins where we left off as Superman is still in pretty bad shape. He is still at the hospital with Lois by his side. He is soon seen waking up as we transition to Clark arriving home with Lois and a reunion with the boys. As it turns out however his power loss is far worse than imagined and he is very much without his powers this entire episode and seemingly beyond. After a trip to the Fortress of Solitude to ask his mom about his powers Clark learns that his cells have been altered and damaged to such an extent that he may have to wait just as long as he did when he first arrived on Earth. How long was this? 4 years which obviously is far too long to be waiting for his powers to return. This leaves John Henry Irons, Natalie and Jordan as the only real line of defense against Ally, her followers and the impending doom that slowly reveals itself to the entire population of Smallville and beyond.
Allys plan fully kicks into motion when a square sun appears in the skies with everyone noticing it immediately. The merge of both planets is well underway and almost immediately the entire population is placed on High Alert. But not because of what's actually happening they're being lied to by the D.O.D at first but soon enough Mayor Lana calls a Town Meeting where she proceeds to tell all. But before we get there we see Clark being pretty hard on himself. He feels utterly useless as he mentions how people depend on Superman. People need Superman. But Lois states that Superman isn't just about his power and strength, Superman stands for hope. This leads to Clark attending the Town Hall Meeting as Superman and in doing so really helps Lana as before he arrives she is basically laughed at by the people of Smallville as she explains Ally, her plan and the entire process of the Inverse / Bizarro world. This scene was truly great and showcased that Superman isn't just about his power he stands for so much more.
The episode draws to a close as things truly kick into motion when Bizarro Johnathan and Lana arrive on Earth-Prime. Jordan has to step up to the plate and it is here where Sarah learns of Jordans powers as he protects not only her but Lana from the Bizarro version of Lana. It's a big revelation and one that really fit so much better than just Jordan telling Sarah outright. As all of this is happening John Henry Irons goes alone into the portal where upon reaching the other side he sees Ally attempting to merge both worlds. He leaves Natalie behind as back-up and unlike the last time he left her she now has a family in the boys, Lois and Clark so again it's just great character building here which I love. As John Henry arrives in the portal he sees Ally like I mentioned and fires a barrage of missiles at her. It's a direct hit but suddenly that power is consumed and forced back on John Henry as he is knocked out left to the void of space. Natalie who is on communications and monitoring him from back home knows this and is very upset as her father just basically sacrificed himself. I really don't see John Henry being dead as just before the episode closes out with it's big twist ending we see John Henry floating in the void. As for the big twist ending it begins as Lana and Sarah argue over the whole Jordan situation. It's all put on hold as the world begins to fade in and out of existence with things from the Bizarro world replacing things on Earth-Prime. Ally's prophecy has come true as she has seemingly merged both worlds together into one with the Bizarro world taking over Earth-Prime. The episode ends with Ally whom we see smiling within the void. What an ending and truly this episode was fantastic and set up next weeks finale perfectly. Jordan's struggle to fill in his father's position as protector was fascinating to see. John Henry's sacrifice was very emotional and all in all that ending was a great little twist. Next week is the season finale and I for one can't wait to see it all unfold!
