Superman & Lois 2x13 : All Is Lost review

Be warned there will be SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

This season of Superman and Lois is wrapping up at a blistering pace with now only 2 episodes remaining. After last weeks enjoyable but not quite up to the standard we'd previously seen can this weeks episode return to true form? the episode opens up 5 years in the past as we see Ally Alston hosting a book signing. None other than Lucy Lane is present and this in turn leads in to their relationship as Ally and Lucy begin to talk and almost immediately grow closer and closer together. Lucy is easily put under Ally's spell so to speak and throughout the episode we get various flashbacks in time which are a complete contrast to the relationship between Ally and Lucy in present day. Speaking of Lucy we see that Lois and her father have located Lucy and the rest of Allys followers who are staying at an abandoned cottage all awaiting her to return even though she's been gone 1 month or so thus far. Some members of Allys group even up and leave stating that she isn't coming back but Lucy and a few others stand firm. It's not long before Lois and her dad turn up and try to get through to Lucy. As all of this is going Clark who has not really been spending time with the boys is forced by Lois to spend time with them and break the news of Lana Cushing wanting to no longer be around the Kent family given what happened last week. Of course Jordan doesn't take this news well at all given his relationship with Sarah even though they rarely speak at this point. So with the news broken to them what's next for Clark?

Next up is some training time for Jordan as Clark takes his son to train him in the power of flight and trusting himself to fly through the air. The two have quite the experience together and bond for the first time in ages which felt nice. What isn't exactly nice however is Lucy Lane's true hatred for her family as her emotions come out in full force as her relationship with Ally has totally overshadowed that of the relationship with her dad and sister and it shows no sign of repair..or does it?

The episode draws to a close as we see Natalie has indeed built a new suit just for her which will aid her father in the field. Funnily enough she has made it more powerful as the armor is a lot more resistant. John Henry Irons is hesitant at first to let Natalie out into the field but he does eventually come around especially when Superman is in some big trouble. Superman in big trouble? it is true as Ally arrives back on Earth-Prime and immediately sets her sights on Superman for his power and power alone. Ally is now known as Parasite as she keeps getting mentioned as such by various people including Lois. It's a clear nod to the comics as Ally Alston is Parasite in the comics and to be honest how they managed to wrap this all around for her being just a cult leader to ultimately becoming her true comic book self was really cool and proves once again that this show really respects the lore of Superman and his characters and villains. The episode draws to a close as Superman arrives at the scene and is immediately met by Ally who begins to suck his life force out of him. He tries to fight through it but it's no use as she keeps draining him of his life force until he falls to the ground. Natalie and John Henry arrive just in time to drive Ally off but Superman is in a bad way. Natalie restarts his heart but after taking him to the D.O.D for further evaluation we learn that not only were doctors able to penetrate his skin and take blood but his power has almost entirely been depleted. Has Superman really lost his powers?? I don't think so but this was an interesting little plot twist to see happen and unfold. The episode ends as Ally takes her place in between Earth-Prime and the Bizarro world as she begins the merging process of the two worlds. The episode ends right there and to be honest while this was an improvement over last week again it just didn't feel as epic or grand as previous episodes. It wasn't bad at all it was fun and interesting but truth be told I was left feeling just a little bit flat. 2 episodes now remain this season but we'll have to wait once again as the show takes a final hiatus and will return on June 21st for it's final two episodes of the second season. Until then Clark!
