The Flash 8x16 : The Curious Case of Bartholomew Allen review
Be warned there will be SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
The Flash has been somewhat solid as of late. It's not been perfect but it's been at the very least a lot more bearable to watch then what we were at this point last season. So can this weeks episode finally offer something new and exciting and transform into something great rather than just something solid? the episode opens up with The Flash stopping various crimes in Central City. It's simple stuff like him stopping a hold up at Jitters and saving an old woman from oncoming traffic as she crosses the road. Barry is soon back at Joe's place where a night of playing games among all of Team Flash is taking place. It's a regular occasion held but this time it is without Iris present which it's clear to see hurts Barry. Speaking of Barry he gets a call to go to his lab at CCPD where he meets none other than Captain Singh who is here with a case for Barry or should I say The Flash. It's to do with a break in at a place called Corbin Taft Industries where a highly powerful and lethal gamma ray has been stolen. It's go time for The Flash!
And go time it is as The Flash rushes to the scene of the crime where he finds the gamma ray inside of a van. The person behind the crime shows up and it's a scientist named Dr Pytor Orloff whom later we learn has the plan to not just make himself immortal but he also plans on turning everybody in the City into older versions of themselves in a fast de-aging process. Speaking of that process Barry gets hit with the gamma radiation from the ray and goes throughout quite the journey within this episode. Back at Star Labs and as he gets evaluated things begin to take a bad turn for him as his powers have not only been diminished but he has aged rapidly.
The episode draws to a close as Barry's condition worsens as not only does his body and power drop to low levels his mind begins to go too which leads to some very interesting scenes including Barry running Cecil to the great wall of China and just forgetting simple little things. He isn't one to be thrown off by this however and he does end up stopping the Doctor and his gamma ray before his plan can fully be activated. It's a simple beat down but effective as The Flash's powers return as he says he now feels better than ever. The episode isn't over yet however as it ends back with Caitlin who is still working on a way to bring back Frost. Barry arrives on the scene and is angry with Caitlin for what she is doing. Barry in a move I didn't see coming completely destroys all of Caitlins research in the room leaving her with just an empty room with all of her progress seemingly wiped. The episode ends on Caitlin who just looks on in an emotionless state. Could this lead to Caitlin becoming an enemy of Team Flash?? I mean it could be possible and would make a lot of sense now as she has a good motivation. That was the episode and much like the last couple of weeks it was fine, it was solid and while not amazing it did offer a good sense of enjoyment. Barry's de-aging process felt like something from one of the old seasons but everything else around it just didn't really interest me. Was great to see a episode revolve around Barry so with that being said I will say this episode was better than the past few weeks. The Flash now takes a week hiatus and will return on June 8th as the season is nearing it's ending. Until then Team Flash!
