The Flash 8x15 : Into the Still Force review
Be warned there will be SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
This weeks episode of The Flash is a deep dive into the Still Force to find Iris who at the end of last weeks episode just up and vanished into thin air once again due to her time sickness. Can Barry and Dion find and save her?? the episode opens up with Barry who comes downstairs to find out that Iris has been at her office all night working. He runs to said office only to not find Iris, an unfinished article written on her laptop and her phone which rings from her bag when Barry rings it. Barry immediately runs to Star Labs to check for any sign of Iris but it's to no avail. In fact it's so much to no avail that Iris isn't even on this Earth with no trace of her anywhere. This can only mean one thing, she is inside of the Still Force itself and this is when Barry really gets to work as he goes to Coast City to talk to the girl that Iris had previously been helping until she fractured her mom through time. Barry finds her but is blown off by her stating that Iris pretty much deserves what she gets. Time soon enough comes to a stop as Dion re-appears although he is very much not the full strength that we usually see him in. Turns out he too as now been infected by Iris and he is not operating at full capacity. He asks Barry to go into the Still Force with him to find Iris and get her out, but he needs some tech to help actually locate her inside. Barry gets the device from Chester and both him and Dion head into the Still Force.
At the point of entry into the Still Force we see that it is in total downfall and a state of complete flux. It's becoming more and more broken with time reversing, splitting and even stopping out right. Dion is concerned heavily about this but Iris needs to be found as she is the key he says. With the help of the tech Barry has they're drawn to a location which just so happens to be Iris's Citizen Media office where we see Alegra and a colleague arguing in a broken time loop. Barry even sees the woman who Iris sucked into the Still Force but can't help her as Dion's behavior just becomes more and more weird. So much so that when they think they've found Iris and it just turns out to be a piece of the Still Force Dion takes it himself before banishing Barry back to the past. He lands at Joe's home and this is when we're brought into the future, 2049 to be exact. We see none other than Nora Allen (XS) who is now a reporter just like her mom. She is doing an article and speaking to Gideon who phases out as a giant wave of Still Force energy appears before Nora. It is Dion and he is asking for her help stating that Barry is stuck in time and she needs to help him get out. Nora is thrust into this wild and chaotic journey to get her dad out of the Still Force and back home.
The episode draws to a close as Nora catches up with Barry and the two embrace before having a pretty deep conversation about Nora's future, the belief that have in one another and the connection to the Still Force especially that given Barry and Iris practically created it. It is then when Barry attempts to hone into his connection using Iris's old brush as an anchor to connect with the Still Force. He is successful and says to Nora right after that he saw everything, the past, present and future. He mentions that Bart (Impulse) has kids, Nora is married to another woman and even someone named Max. Could he be mentioning the Speedster Max Mercury?? if so that could be very interesting indeed. With Barry's newfound energy levels and Nora's sense of optimism they both manage to escape the Still Force but it takes some doing from them both. When they do get back home they arrive at Star Labs where they talk with Joe and Cecil before Nora has to return to her old time. Barry and the team now have to find another way to find Iris which they obviously will but it'll be interesting to see how it all unfolds. The episode ends with Caitlin who now has enlisted Chillblaine on helping bring back Frost and if you read my review last week you know exactly how I feel about that whole scenario. And that was this weeks episode, it didn't exactly feature anything mindblowing. Even Zoom and Godspeed were just relegated to a newspaper article which was disappointing. As for the episode as a whole it was fine. Nothing too amazing nothing too bad either. A solid outing once more for The Flash.
