Superman & Lois 2x6 : Tried and True review

Be warned there will be SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

Another week and yet another stellar episode of Superman and Lois. This weeks episode opens up with a look at Bizarro and just how he not only came to our Superman's world but how he became to despise Ally Alston and come into possession of her pendant. The intro plays over a song as we see Bizarro fighting not just soldiers but even a super-powered Lana which I was not expecting to storming into Ally's office and taking the pendant right from her neck before putting on his containment suit. His containment suit that is fitted with a sort of drill which he uses to drill into the mines which is how he arrived in Superman's world in the mines which led to him becoming stranded with no way of getting back. The intro parallels perfectly to the ending which I'll get into at the ending segment. At the end of last weeks episode Lana and Sarah found out that Kyle had been having an affair with a bar maiden. This week begins as we see that Lana is not taking it so well as she puts on a brave face but is heard weeping once Sarah is not around. Sarah does see her and hugs her tight as her, her sister and Lana will presumably now have to face life without Kyle around all the time. Lana has a decision to make and she does make it by the end of the episode.

Superman and General Anderson are soon seen attending the funerals of the fallen soldiers who were killed in a previous Bizarro attack. Anderson gets slapped by one of the victims mothers who blames him for what happened and his preparation which is severely lacking. Superman does have some news for him however and it involves him destroying the pendant which Anderson has in his possession still. Turns out that his pendant is the same one Bizarro took from his version of Ally Aston while the one she has in this world is her own which she wants to seemingly combine with the one Bizarro brought over to become god-like. So Superman wants the pendant from Anderson but he ends up having to leave in the middle of their talk to stop an avalanche from happening in Russia of all places..anyways he succeeds and returns home to find Lois there but she is not alone as Lucy is there and their father Sam Lane too. They all act like a happy family with Lucy even playing football coach to the boys but you feel the lingering dread of Ally Alston in the hair as you know a talk about her is coming sooner rather than later.

The episode draws to a close at Johnathan's big football game where he has gotten picked to play. It's all thanks to him inhaling X-Kryptonite via an inhaler as Jordan soon finds out thanks to a classmate who mentions that the guy who Johnathan replaced was found with an inhaler and is being questioned by the police. Jordan and Johnathan come to blows in the dressing room but Sam shows up breaking them apart. Superboys are at war it seems. As this is going on not only does Lana speak with Clark before the game she visits the woman whom her husband had an affair with. Lana just seems indifferent before finally visiting Kyle at his work place where she tells him that it's over and that he should come and pick up his things the following morning when nobody is in the house. Ouch! back with the game now and while it's on Clark has to duck away mid-game to help someone again before heading to see Anderson once again. But it's a trap this time around as the episode parallels the opening with Bizarro like I mentioned. Superman gets hit with red lighting which diminishes his powers. He fights off the soldiers but ends up getting shot twice with a Kryptonite like darts by Anderson knocking him out. The episode ends as Sam shows up at the Kent home and tells Lois that Clark has been arrested for treason. He is now in custody of the United States of America until he is more co-operative and tells Anderson basically all that he wants to know. The episode ends as we see Superman being carted out into a vehicle as Anderson says he is being brought to be with his brother of all people. And that was episode, strong narrative driven and extremely enjoyable this wasn't heavy on action like previous weeks but the character arcs and storytelling is unrivaled right now. This is easily the best DC show on the CW and continues to prove that each week.
