Legends Of Tomorrow 7x12 : Too Legit to Quit review
Be warned there will be SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
The penultimate episode of Legend of Tomorrow's seventh season has come and gone and it felt more like an actual ending to the show rather than anything else which was strange. The episode opens up with Gideon being rushed to the med bay after last time out we saw her get stabbed in the back (literally) by Robo-Astra, she is placed in the med bay but is refused any sort of medical attention as the ship and the evil version of Gideon is offline. Everyone agrees to get AI Gideon back online so that she can help the human version of herself to which she agrees to do much to her own dismay. She threatens the Legends before hand though as any wrong move or sort of betrayal and she will strip the ship of all of it's oxygen. So Gideon gets the medical attention she so needs and is restored to top tip form soon after. Both versions of Gideon agree to have a talk together in the main room of the ship on their own which for the time being leaves the Legends in limbo. But said limbo isn't exactly long as Gideon returns and informs them both her and AI Gideon have come to an agreement. But there's a hitch. The Legends must retire from active duty and hand of the reigns of the waverider to both Gideon's as one can be Captain and the other is the AI version just like the time masters intended when this all began.
So will the Legends retire? and if they do will everything they've achieved mean nothing?? well they won't go down without at least one more plan of action that involves charging up a time courier so that they can time jump themselves. This leads to Spooner making her way through the vents of the ship Die-Hard style. Her target is the armory where a charger station is. While she is doing that all while being as silent as she can be Gideon and Gary present the Legends with what their future entails. First up is Zari and she sees that she will become a major fashion icon and designer. Her brand will be worth billions but she doesn't seem exactly happy about this because she isn't wearing her totem in any of the photos and videos. It actually makes her feel sad and sort of less wanted. Up next is a montage of all the Legends seeing what their future entails and we get some really interesting paths here. Astra is running of President in 2040, Nate writes a book about time travel spanning 500 pages, Gwen is going home to Wales to live by his lonesome which becomes a big plot point later on and finally Ava and Sara see a video from their future daughter who is recording a video from camp. It's all incredibly interesting and fascinating given the context and overall narrative of not just this episode but show.
The episode draws to a close as the Legend's plan to charge the time courier fails as Spooner almost gets sucked into the tempural zone. She survives thanks to Astra and soon after a retirement party is held with all Legends present. It looks very much like they're going to retire and they even end up taking one final photo together on the bridge of the ship. It's a really bittersweet moment as each member disappears from the photo leaving only Gideon and Gary behind as they will be the ones to control the timeline going forward. But the episode isn't over yet as Gideon has a robot version of Gwen Davies's love Alun into the fold which doesn't fool Gwen at all. The episode ends with him saying that he is coming to save Alun even though his death is a fixed point in time according to Gideon. Speaking of Gideon the AI version of her doesn't seem to trust Gary at all and her intentions become more and more clear as the episode draws to it's close. She ends up locking Gary in the armory before ejecting him into the tempural zone. So Gary is gone along with the Legends leaving only Gideon on board but with Gwen Davies plan in motion surely they will all return in next weeks finale to continue as Legends. So yeah that was the episode it was a bit odd with some great moment and some not so great moment. Felt a bit out of place and more like a show ending episode if anything else. We'll see what happens next week in the finale but right now I'm not really that interested or very intrigued.
