Batwoman 3x9 : Meet Your Maker review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

Batwoman returns for another week and this episode all in all wasn't actually all that bad considering the downward spiral the show has been on as of late. The episode opens up as the real, original Pamela Isley (Poison Ivy) makes her return to the land of the living. The first thing she does? well murder some fishermen of course. Once they're out of the way we see Ivy rise from the water as Renee Montoya rushes into view. Ivy says even though she was in the water and basking in sunlight she still feels so powerless. Well she has been underground for 10 years so this is to be expected, gotta be patient Renee says as the two just reunite and live in the moment. We're soon back with Ryan, Luke and Sophie who are still at Renee's base of operations trying to find Ivy and Renee. Thanks to some sleuthing by Sophie they are able to narrow the search area down to the National Park and it's entire radius which according to Luke is pretty big indeed. So it's Ivy hunting time. While the team is off on their way to the National Park none other than John Diggle himself cameos in this episode as we learn that he is old friends with Jada Jet. Infact they could've easily been more than that as there seems to be some lingering emotions throughout their scenes. Dig was in Gotham and accepted Jada's offer to come visit which she takes as asking him for help with her son Marcus. In short Jada wants the Joker's buzzer to use it on Marcus in an attempt to reverse his condition? Diggle agrees to help her and the two go to Renee's base of operations and literally break into her main office and end up stealing the Joker's buzzer.

Enter Mary and Alice who we see still out and about drinking coffee, upon drinking her iced coffee Mary begins to experience a headache which she thinks if brain freeze at first. It's not brain freeze it is actually Poison Ivy luring Mary to her location. The headache worsens whenever Mary goes in a different direction to the National Park. So she decides to go in the direction that doesn't cause her any physical pain. Alice is against the idea but it stopped by Mary as she places her under her spell telling her to stand behind in the car. More on Mary and Ivy in a bit however.

The episode draws to a close as Team Batwoman arrive at the National Park and are almost immediately attacked by Ivy who even after promising to not harm Batwoman tries to kill not just Batwoman but the entire team. They're all forced into a cabin where they come up with a plan of attack involving using salt & vinegar as a tool of offense. Once that runs out though they're forced outside to get more from a pick up truck outside but this is when Ivy strikes once again. Luke steps up here and saves a young kid from being squashed by Ivy's plants and roots as Batwoman survives a car explosion which destroys most of the roots and vines. Back with Ivy and Renee and we learn that Ivy's spell didn't work on Renee as over the years she been taking some sort of experimental drug that has built up her tolerance to the pheromones that Ivy places inside of someone. Renee calls their relationship toxic just as Mary arrives on the scene. The episode ends here as Ivy takes Mary in her hands, planting a kiss on her forehead as a giant fog of green energy swirls around. As she does this we also see veins of energy going into Ivy through the kiss as all of her power has seemingly returned. The episode ends right there and then as Ivy is at full power now. And that was the episode, not a brilliant episode or even a fully good one this was fine. Solid yet nothing special. This show has picked up in the past 2 weeks or so, so here's hoping it can continue and find a really strong solid ground as we're now in the back half of the season.
