Supergirl 6x18 : Truth or Consequences review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
This weeks episode of Supergirl is a bit or roller coaster to say the least. It opens in the tower as we see William telling everyone that he met up with Otis Graves who leaked some info to him about Lex and his plans. His plans include building an army of Lex-O suit soldiers. William soon gets a message on his phone telling everyone to turn on the news channel. When they do they see that Lex Luthor's private diary has been leaked to the press. Lex's deepest, most profound thoughts are written on it from his confession of love for Nxyly to other things like how he is known as the Man of Tomorrow. Turns out the media got a hold of the journal seemingly thanks to Andrea who we saw with it last week. She leaks it to the press alongside a story by William which is very important for later on. In last weeks episode we learned that Brainy is going to look to the future for information on Nyxly and how to stop both her and Lex. Well this week he gets quite the shock as he learns that once Lex and Nyxly are no longer a threat in modern time he must fuse with the big brain to protect and secure both time and space. So it looks like Brainy won't be around anymore past the season finale. As for Nia he looks to tell her but she gets to know the information through a dream vision before he can tell her everything. Brainy reluctantly tells her that she is needed in the land of the living and that it's her destiny to be here as his is to be inside of the big brain. It's all come out of nowhere sure but I did like this little side plot.
We're soon back at the tower and after some tech wizardry by Lena the location of Mitch's ship which is where Lex and Nxyly are hiding out is located. Supergirl, Dreamer, Brainy and J'onn are all soon on board the ship and learn that Lex and Nxyly have restore the Hope Totem and also now have the Truth Totem. A fight breaks out on board the ship which also houses some of Lex's proposed Lex-O Suit soldiers. All hell breaks loose as not only do the team end up getting the totems back but they also destroy the robotic soldiers dealing a huge blow to Lex's plans. Or do they??.. more on that in a bit.
The episode draws to a close as a party for Alex and Kelly is thrown to celebrate their engagement. With Nyxly and and Lex now in the wind and the fifth dimensional imp seemingly succumbing more and more to Lex can Team Supergirl truly win the day here?? while everyone is at the party William agrees to look after Esme for Alex and Kelly as a sort of early wedding gift. They go to the Tower as everyone else is seen enjoying themselves dancing the night away. That is until Lex and Nxyly reappear and cause some chaos. We see them turn up at the Tower after they learn that Esme is now the Love Totem incarnate. Nxyly gets to her as Lex is left with a tied and strapped to a chair William. Lex ultimately reveals to William that as always he has been one step ahead of everyone. Everything that happened in this episode was done on purpose so that they could not only get to Esme but also retrieve the totems. Much like in season 5 and season 4 Lex is shown once again to be the mastermind behind everything and honestly it's just as fantastic now as it was back then. Before leaving Lex commits one final horrific deed. He shoots William twice knocking him to the ground. Nxyly seemingly takes Esme as we don't see it but it's pretty much a given that she does. William with his final breaths records himself before sending it to Andrea who now has the evidence to surely use it against Lex. Supergirl and the rest of the Superfriends soon arrive back to the Tower in a hurry and find that not only is Esme missing but Supergirl ends up finding William's lifeless body. He is dead she says as the camera pans to a shot directly above them. A somber ending to a really enjoyable episode to be honest. Only 2 episodes now remain with the final episode being a two part conclusion. All in all this was a very good episode indeed. Roll on next week!
