Stargirl 2x12 : Summer School Chapter Twelve : Review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
The penultimate episode of Stargirl's second season has come and gone and with it we got a reunion of friends and enemies and finally learn of Eclipso's true endgame. The episode opens as everyone returns back to the Whitmore home. When they walk in they see that the Cosmic Staff is back and ready to go. While the family are home we see both Beth and Jenni go to the second Shade location that Jenni's Lantern ring signaled last week. When they arrive they see that the school is pretty much shut down but inside they find something. Upon scanning it Beth learns that it's a dark energy residue left behind when Eclipso sent Cindy to the Shadowlands. Jenni uses her ring on it and seemingly blasts it away but it actually gets inside of her ring. This plays right into the ending of this episode in a very interesting way indeed. When Beth and Jenni arrive back at the Whitmore house Beth comes face to face with Dr Mid-Nite for the very first time. The two get work on locating Eclipso and pair their tech together to decrease the time needed to locate the villain.
With everyone out of the Shadowlands including Cindy Courtney gets to work about getting both Yolanda and Rick back in the JSA. She goes to see Yolanda as Pat goes to see Rick's stepfather. Firstly we see Courtney talking to Yolanda outside the church from earlier in the season. Courtney ends up telling Yolanda about the JSA and how they killed a man before to defeat Eclipso. She only tells her that the original Wildcat was in on and even though they knew it was a mistake they had to live with it for the rest of their lives. This makes Yolanda even worse as she says that the Wildcat costume just houses murderers. While they're talking we see Cindy watching on from the distance as she goes to visit Yolanda herself soon after. She tells her that she is working with Courtney now which Yolanda is disgusted by. This in turn leads to her agreeing to come back even though she is strongly against it. As for Pat and his time trying to get Rick back into the fold he goes to see his stepfather in hospital who is pretty beaten up. Pat asks him drop the charges against Rick who is still in prison for the time being until he can be trialed. When Rick's stepfather rights down a note telling Pat to go to hell Pat goes totally dark and not only locks the door to the room but closes the shutters so nobody can see inside. This was a real dark moment for Pat and sure enough Rick ends up getting released from prison after his stepfather drops the charges. It's not shown what happened but can only assume Pat beat him up?? maybe??
The episode draws to a close back at the Whitemore home as we see Jenni struggling with her energy levels. She is told to rest by Barbara and she does. We see her in bed seemingly having a vision of darkness and death. But most scary of all is the final image of the episode which shows that Eclipso intends on taking complete control of Courtney / Stargirl and becoming this worlds God. He says this to Beth and Dr Mid-Nite in his child form. It's a properly chilling end to an episode that was a lot shorter than normal. Clocking in at only 38 minutes there was a lot packed in here as usual with this show. I didn't even mention Mike and his search for his friend Jakeem who is now the man behind the Pink Thunderbolt. So yeah that was the episode. It was highly enjoyable as always with Stargirl and set up next weeks finale very well. Who knows what's going to go down next week but I can't wait to see it all unfold that's for sure!
