Legends Of Tomorrow 7x1 : The Bullet Blondes review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

Legends of Tomorrow returns after a short break between season 6 and 7. The last time we saw the Legends a a waverider flew into where they were and destroyed their own waverider. With all of that in mind the episode opens up in Odessa Texas 1925 which is where the Legends still are. The episode begins with a number of residents living in the area talking to the Sheriff. Describing things like seeing a dinosaur roaming around the area and bright lights above the night sky this leaves the Sheriff baffled. We're then back with the Legends who are still in shock after what just happened to the waverider. Pieces of the ship are seen scattered around the fielded area in front of them. With the town buzzing with conspiracies the Legends come up with a plan to use one of their time couriers to jump onto the waverider that zipped in and out of the area and sneakily take out whoever is on board. So when they all go inside of Spooner's moms home and try to put the plan in motion they are disappointed to learn that it's out of power which means they're stuck in Odessa Texas for the time being. But it's not all bad news as Ava who says that thanks to her Time Bureau training she knows of certain rules. And one rule is that any waverider / time ship must have a fail safe on board that has supplies inside. Supplies that would be very helpful for them indeed.

This leads to the Legends splitting up into teams to find the safe which should be at the waverider rubble site. When it's not there Astra and Spooner who are apart of one team use a magic spell that leads them to it's location. The safe just so happens to be at the Sheriff's office. Inside he can be seen looking at it with a local pastor who found it out lying around. So it's up to the Legends to get back the safe while also maintaining their cover. Back at Spooner's home and thanks to another rule from Ava they're forced to come up with a disguise. That of a circus of all things and while they will not have to actually perform as circus performers they will have to have an entire group makeover. Sara, Zari and Behrad get to work making some costumes while Nate and Ava go to the Sheriff's office to try and get the safe back. When they arrive Nate says that he is J Edgar Hoover and manages after some dodgy moments to get the safe back in the hands of Team Legends. While this is going on the rest of the team can be seen out and about saying that they're from a circus. Gary gets put in a sticky position when he is asked when they're set to perform in the area by a little girl. He panics and says later that night but they're really in no position to be circus performers. With everyone now attempting to get their circus skills in check Astra wanders off to the waverider rubble site and attempts to use a spell to resurrect the waverider. At first it looks like it's going to be successful but things take a bad turn for Astra who begins to bleed heavily from her nose. She soon faints and is rushed back to Spooner's house where she is looked after and told to rest up.

The episode draws to a close at Spooner's place as the real J Edgar Hoover arrives in town after hearing of an imposter in the area. When he comes a knocking on the door of Gloria Cruz (Spooner's mom) the rest of the Legends are forced to hide in the back room where Astra is resting up. They can't exactly hide in their and after some arguing Behrad says to Zari to use the key that Constantine gave her on a locked door in the room. It works and as they all go inside they end up back in Constantine's house. And while technically it is his house it's also a pocket dimension that is inside of hell of all places. Time is nothing inside here but hiding away here will do nothing but delay the Legends. While here Ava learns of a doctor named Gwen Davies who is an expert in time and travel. He is currently in 1925 New York City so it's off to the big apple but first they have to handle the current situation. Gary overhears J Edgar Hoover saying that he is going to search around the property and quickly the Legends all come back into the home. When they see Hoover about to come back inside Sara comes up with a plan of escape. When Hoover enters the home again he sees both Spooner and her mom tied up together. The Legends are nowhere to be seen. This is because they're outside stealing the car of Hoover as they all get inside and ride off from Spooner's residence. So it's off to NYC but they've no money or no real sense of direction. Sara and Ava are soon seen donning dresses and entering a bank which they up and rob which came out of left field. They're named The Bullet Blondes hence the title of the episode. So the Legends are NYC bound which is going to be very interesting indeed. The episode isn't over yet though as we're soon back with Astra who is seen up and about picking flowers out in the garden. Spooner is at the waverider rubble site burying pieces of the time ship in the ground. Astra arrives and the two have a genuinely brilliant scene together as they say that they're best friends and have got each others backs always. When Astra sits down on a rock and says a word of a spell however they're joined by someone else. It's none other than Gideon in her human form. She is seen completely naked just standing in the middle of all the rubble. The episode ends with both Spooner and Astra saying ''Gideon'' and that was the episode. An interesting episode to start season 7 that felt a lot different from season 6. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this season unfolds to be honest. We're off to a good start that's for sure. Until next week Legends!
