Dune (2021) review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
I've never seen the original adaptation of Dune. And I've never really been the biggest fan of Sci-Fi so expectations were pretty low going into Dune and they were very much met. Dune is an epic movie done on an absolutely incredible scale. The story follows the son of a noble family who're entrusted with protecting the most vital and valuable element in the galaxy. Starring a pretty impressive cast consisting of Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isacc and more Dune slowly plods along in a manner that you're either going to love or hate. For me it was the latter unfortunately as Dune just didn't do much for more. It's slow and quite frankly boring.
That being said Dune is one of the most visually breathtaking movies I've seen this year. You really have to see this on the biggest screen possible because it is just sublime. Performance wise it's good but nothing spectacular. It's also quite long clocking in at just over 2 hr 30 mins in length so be prepared for that.
Dune is an experience that I am still glad I got to witness on the big screen. It's slow sure but it's also world building a lot here and I can appreciate that a lot. The action is pretty good too with Jason Mamoa being a true standout in that aspect. If you're into Sci-Fi and love grand visual epics than Dune is the movie for you. As for me it's a proper thumbs in the middle type of movie.
