Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings review

Introducing Shang-Chi Marvel's newest addition to the ever growing and expanding MCU. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is an absolute epic compiled of intense and amazing action, gorgeous visuals and a deep down theme all about family, leaving the ones you love behind and ultimately finding hope to be the best version of yourself. There's a lot to get through in this movie so let's dig right in. Shang-Chi stars Simu Liu and right off the bat he is incredibly likable and as the movies goes on he just gets more and more likable to the point where you'll be willing to get behind him and want him to succeed. The rest of the cast do a stand up job too including Awkwafina and more. Side note keep an eye out for some truly great cameos that tie into previous MCU movies and heroes.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings story follows the mysterious and mythical Ten Rings. 10 powerful rings that when wield by someone grant them eternal life and immense power. Shang-Chi is drawn to this powerful weapon from birth as it was his father who took the rings for himself long ago. By the time his father meets his mother he gives up the rings placing them in confinement. As Shang-Chi and his sister grow up they're trained to become powerful warriors by there father. When a family tragedy strikes a 14 year old Shang-Chi is tasked with an important mission by his father which is where he decides to escape and start a new life in California. The movie picks up in California where Shang lives under the name Sean and is a valet. To go into anymore plot details would be spoilers so I'm just going to leave it here. The story set up is good and it draws you in quite quickly to Shang-Chi and his journey.

With incredible visuals and astounding action taking place Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is unlike any other Marvel movie in quite some time. It feels fresh with little to no real jokes. There are some of course but for the most part this is a straight as an arrow narrative with some really deep moments about family like I mentioned earlier. This packs a serious punch that I really did not expect. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings begins a new era for Marvel and boy did they really knock this one out of the park. A must see for any MCU fan!
