Legends Of Tomorrow 6x12 : Bored On Board Onboard review

 

            Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

This weeks Legends of Tomorrow begins almost immediately where last weeks ended. The Legends were victorious in their bowling game for earth. Back onboard the waverider and everyone is present. Constantine notes it's time for Zari 2.0 to come out of the totem which leads to Nate having to again say goodbye to his love OG Zari. When Zari 2.0 does come out of the totem she is confused that they're drifting in space. Oh if she only knew what happened. As for drifting in space that's where the Legends are stuck and will have to travel home the old fashioned way because the jump drive that is used to jump from time place to time place is damaged beyond repair for the time being. This means everyone is stuck on board the waverider for a total of just over 3 weeks. We end up getting a fun way of doing things at the beginning as things like Day 1 and Day 3 flash on the screen. Of course as more time passes everyone gets restless. Even more so when Sara says that power consumption has to be practically non existent to make their journey back to earth even shorter. So with everything at a snails pace for the Legends perhaps a game of Beast Slayers is in order??

Beast Slayers what is that you may ask? well it's a board game much like cluedo. The Legends each take a card and are to become that character on the card. The objective is to find the person who is pretending to be a beast in disguise. It's a simple game but it becomes a lot more dangerous when Constantine makes it in his own twisted magical image. The Legends are soon inside of his house where they're all seated down for dinner time. Gary is left outside of the game and all that remains of the Legends is that of metallic like figurines atop the Beast Slayers board. Gary begins to narrate over the game as everyone is seated at a dinner table. Things soon take a dark turn as Ava who plays the detective succumbs to the beast. Nate follows but this time it's a lot more vicious as he is stabbed in the back. Ava wasn't stabbed or anything she just couldn't speak as she was supposed 'dead' well it turns out she now too is dead and is on a carpet in the main room of the house with blood coming out of her mouth. Is there something a little more sinister at play here? Behrad seems to think so and his and the others worries are soon explained as when Sara is too picked off a note is left behind. If this beast who is killing everyone is not stopped or accused to be one of the remaining Legends everyone will not only die in the game but also outside of it. They will also become their characters from the cards they picked earlier. Ava was a detective, Sara a black widow and so on. Constantine has become a doctor but he is showing strong signs of his magical intake. He is seen coughing up blood and when both Astra and Spooner are picked off he locks himself into the attic in his house. Behrad and Zari are left downstairs but are soon sprung into action when they hear noise from the attic. Constantine isn't alone in the attic rather he is met with the beast. But it's not a beast rather a dark twisted version of himself cloaked in black wearing a mask. He is the physical embodiment of all Constantine's pain and suffering in life. From his relationships to everything else in between. The dark version of Constantine attacks Constantine and it looks bad for our lovable rouge. Zari and Behrad soon arrive in the attic as we see Zari impale the dark Constantine with a weapon right in the back knocking everyone out of the game and back into the real world. Ava funnily enough suggests to play again but everyone says no way. It's looking up for the Legends though as while they were inside the game the jump drive was fixed.

The episode draws to a close as we find out that it was Kayla who returned earlier in the episode that fixed the jump drive. But she did have a reason for it all and it's pretty clear. When she gets into the med bay and has one of her tentacles restored said tentacle ends up staying behind to print something else. It's a body but we only see the legs for the time being. It's pretty evident who this is and even though we don't see his face it's obvious it is a returning Bishop even made more clear by the final image in the episode. But before we get there we gotta talk about Kayla and Mick who is sporting a full head of hair in this episode. After all this time it's quite surreal to see him sporting hair. With that being said however he tells Kayla that he is pregnant which leads to her hitting him with a killer touch that Gary had previously warned him about. The Legends find Mick knocked out on the ground while the others all go their separate ways for the time being. Constantine ends up going back to his house where later we see Zari show up to offer him some tea. Zari who is also there to finally confess her love for Constantine. Her mood is destroyed however as when Constantine turns around on the couch Zari sees the mark of the weapon she used to impale the shadowy figure in the attic earlier. This means that the dark version of Constantine is still inside of him and it's just bursting to get out. Even more now then ever as Constantine just can't give up the magical blood that he has been ingesting. This story arc will be very interesting to see unfold over the final 3 episodes this season. The episode ends as Sara hears music from a room further down in the waverider. She is seen opening the door with a shocked look on her face. We don't see what she's looking at but it's pretty obvious it's Bishop and he is back thanks to Kayla reprinting him in the med bay. The episode ends right there and then and boy oh boy was this a wild ride. From the Beast Slayers game to Constantine dealing with his inner demons (literally) to Bishop seemingly having returned this season of Legends of Tomorrow is something else I tell you. 3 episodes now remain in season 6 so here's hoping they can deliver in a big burst of madness and energy.
