The Flash 7x12 : Good-Bye Vibrations review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
The Flash returns from it's hiatus with a farewell episode to one Cisco Ramon. After what became a messier and messier Forces storyline can The Flash give Cisco a fitting farewell?? the episode begins inside Star Labs where we see Cisco and Kamila telling Barry, Iris and Caitlin of their plans to move away. Cisco mentions that he has gotten a big time job with ARGUS thanks to a solid recommendation from John Diggle and Lyla. Kamila says she too has gotten a job in Star City and even though the announcement is fairly short notice they won't be going right at this moment. Cisco still has to pack and get himself prepared to leave for Star City. Before doing so he shows Chester the Star Labs archive room that he mentions he hasn't organized in 6 years or so. Inside of the room is various objects, weapons and other things from over the last 6 years of this show. Things like The Thinker!'s chair are visible as Chester is blown away by it all. All of this goodbye is cut short however as it's not long before we're introduced to a new metahuman. A spin on Rainbow Rider this new meta is a woman named Carrie Bates who can not only use the original Rainbow Rider's anger powers but she can also use all the other colors of the rainbow to make people feel any and or all emotions. For the most part it's the happy emotion that is showcased here in her plans to ultimately steal from the rich and give back to the poor. It's a total flip from the original meta style of things which I did like.
The Flash and Meca-Vibe soon arrive to apprehend this Rainbow Rider 2.0 but they are not successful. Instead Cisco gets hit with her powers and experiences a strong happiness surge that according to Caitlin will last for over 24 hours. That is unless Chester can reverse engineer a device to stop it. With Cisco out of commission for the time being The Flash is left alone to stop Rainbow Rider 2.0, The last OG Team Flash mission is put on hold for the time being with Cisco not able to help. The Flash is soon hot on the trail of the meta again but this time he (obviously) ends up getting hit by her powers. What follows is a bizarre dancing scene back at Star Labs where Barry dances in all manner of fashions for Cisco who remember is still as giddy as hyena. I really don't know what to think of this scene hours after watching it. It was funny but way too silly. For now I'm just going to forget it and focus on the rest of the episode.
The episode draws to a close as Chester comes to the rescue and reverts Cisco and Barry back to their old selves via a device that flashes before their eyes. With them all back on the same page again the last mission for OG Team Flash is back on as they all learn of Rainbow Rider 2.0's end goal. To steal a blimp from Ferris Air and use it as a sort of dispersal device to send money, jewels and other trinkets to Central City below. Along with Alegra this time around both Flash and Cisco arrive on the blimp and not only apprehend Rainbow Rider but it's actually Cisco who saves the day and diverts the blimp from crashing into a football stadium which just so happened to be hosting a game full of spectators. This was a really great moment for Cisco and the highlight of the episode (besides the ending) speaking of the ending back at Star Labs and as Cisco goes to debrief everyone on what has happened he finds nobody in the room only Chester. He goes about his debrief in a funny low energy way as he learns that a surprise party is being thrown in his honor not only by everyone at Star Labs but for Kamila everyone at the Citizen is also throwing a party. As Chester leaves the room Cisco stands there taking it all in remembering all the memories from his time over the years. We see various clips from season 1, Cisco naming a bunch of villains and most importantly the friendships made along the way. This was a really good moment as throughout the years Cisco has not only been the comedic relief of this show but he formed some of the best and most loved relationships in the history of the Arrowverse. The episode ends with 2 further developments. One is absolutely adorable and amazing and the other is for a developing story going forward. First we got to talk about Cisco's going away party with Joe, Barry and Caitlin. They not only talk about their friendships and things what to come and what has passed but they end up partaking in some karaoke as Barry and Cisco sing Pokerface by Lady Gaga. Barry especially going all out in a hilarious manner as Caitlin and Joe are in hysterics. This was such a heartwarming scene that really made the farewell to Cisco a lot less easy to take in. He will be missed dearly that is for sure. The final thing I want to talk about is Cecil. We see her enter her home at night. A voice can be soon heard calling out to her. She walks over to a mirror and looks into it with her reflection looking back at her wearing a golden sort of helmet. This immediately reminded me of Psycho Pirate but surely that can't be it? either way we'll find out next week as the promo for next week shows it's all about Cecil and this mysterious golden helmet wearing person? demon? I have no idea. And that was not only the episode but truly the end of an era. Cisco Roman I salute you sir and Carlos Valdes I thank you for bringing the character to life in such a unique and lovable way. This show definitely won't be the same without you. The episode however was a very enjoyable one. Was it silly? sure but there was more than enough here to satisfy and hopefully this can be the true kickstater going forward as our next story arch begins fairly shortly. See you soon Flash!
