Legends Of Tomorrow 6x7 : Back to the Finale Part II review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
After the revelation at the end of last week's episode of Legends Of Tomorrow that our fierce Captain Sara Lance has been dead since the very first time she met Bishop we learn so much more from this episode so let's get right into it. The episode begins right where last weeks ended as we see a white cold corpse of the original Sara Lance. Bishop fills on both Sara and us the audience on just what happened and how he in fact did clone her. As I suspected in last weeks review Sara did actually die not long after consuming what she thought to be the antidote to her Alien bite given to her by Bishop. It was no antidote instead a primer he says. A primer that allowed him to clone Sara. Bishop has also done a lot more to Sara installing and fusing her human DNA with that of Alien DNA which when bonded together has granted Sara various abilities and also the act of transformation. Bishop also tells whom we actually saw be dragged off by his Ava clones only for a new version of him to come out of it's chamber tells Sara that he plans on building an entire army of Sara's which will be at his command as he tries to take over planets in the galaxy. Solid plan right? I think not.
Back on board the waverider and we see that Ava has sunken into a deep period of mourning / grief. Not only is she watching the video of Sara talking about proposing to her on repeat which is slow torture in itself she isn't eating or even communicating with the other Legends much. Nate tries to get her to eat but is unsuccessful. Soon turns out that it's not only Ava who is feeling down but everyone else too as the Legends play a game of pass the bottle as we see them all raising a glass in honor of their fallen Captain. Everyone is present except for Behrad who is in his room 'thinking' Nate and Zari go to see what's up only to find out that he has actually traveled back in time to the night where Sara was first abducted by Aliens. All the Legends soon arrive back in London 1977 which is where this Alien abduction all began not long after the Legends defeated the fates of Greek mythology last season. Upon arrival we're treated to some funny finale jokes with Nate referring to season 4's finale where he died for a moment being not so fun otherwise finale's are a blast. So everyone meets up with Behrad and the plan is to get to Sara before she gets abducted thus saving her in the process. We actually get some really fun scenes here with Constantine, Zari, Behrad and even Spooner interacting with Sara as the season 5's finale is done in a completely different way then what we saw before which was much appreciated. They actually do try and save Sara but it's Behrad who ultimately fails in doing so as Sara again gets abducted by the same beam of light at the end of season 5. So with all that in mind won't saving Sara totally flip the current timeline on it's head? the answer is yes and we're both shown and told what will and could happen. Not only will Spooner never join the team but she will never even meet the Legends. Add to that we also see an alternate version of Nate enter the eating spot where the Legends are chowing down and states that saving Sara screws everything up for the absolute worse. With all of that in mind just what can be done then??
The episode draws to a close back with Sara who doesn't know that Mick who along with Kayla, Gary and the various Ava clones are all actually on her side. Bishop has become more and more unstable over time which has not been the greatest time for his Ava clones. Mick after having some alone time with Kayla decides to go it alone to find Sara. It's along the way where he meets Gary and the two along with more Ava clones all agree to work together to destroy the generator's that are powering the big ship that Bishop has been using to create his 'clones' Sara who is still on said ship is unwilling to go back with everyone in her current form. She gets into a fight with Bishop again but this time injects him with something that I can only guess was a serum that will stop him from being able to clone himself? there was writing on the syringe but I couldn't quite make it out. So with Bishop out of the picture for the time being Sara with help from a Ava clone gets to work on constructing a pure clean human form of herself which will be the one to go back with everyone. With the process underway things take a bad turn again as expected and it's Bishop again this time he is talking completely from the cloud which he is set on uploading his entire mind onto. With only mere minutes to spare and the explosions placed on the generators Sara tells Gary to blow the place as Sara escapes with Mick who actually showed a bit of a softer side here saying that he and everyone else needs Sara back no matter what form she is or can be. Everyone escapes deeper into the planet as Bishop's final throw of the dice fails and he is shut down for good this time. They all rush to the ship but Kayla has taken off? Mick can't believe it but it turns out she only got the ship up and running to fend off Aliens who were beginning to break down the door and attach to the hull. The ship is soon in view but as they all rush to it the same Aliens ambush them all which leads to Kayla transforming into her outer galactic self and throwing down. Everyone else makes a break for the ship and take off leaving Kayla behind much to Mick's heartbreak. This was all done in such a fast paced way that I really liked even if it wasn't as dramatic as it could've been with Mick's reaction to Kayla being left behind. Will we see her again? not sure but I'd like to see this relationship furthered. Back at the waverider and again we see Ava watching the proposal clip once more. It becomes corrupted according to Gideon as behind Ava we see Sara enter the room. The two embrace and are finally reunited after what felt like a lifetime apart for them both. The episode ends with one of the most adorably cute moments from not only this season but any season of the show. Sara in front of everyone else proposes to Ava as fireworks go off in the background from Behrad's exploding mannequin plan which was a total flop. The sky is filled with bright lights as below on the ground the bright lights are that of Sara and Ava who are now engaged to be married. A Legends style wedding surely that'll be fun yes?! and that was the episode. It was highly entertaining from beginning to end and also explained Bishop's plan in a sound enough way that wasn't totally ludicrous or cartoonish. This episode struck a great balance and ended on such a sweet note that made me once again super excited to see what happens next. In the words of Behrad himself Legends never die!
