Superman & Lois 1x6 : Broken Trust review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
Superman & Lois returns from it's almost two month hiatus with new episodes. Picking up right where last we saw anything from this show we're shown Tag attacking and yelling at Jordan Kent. He blames Jordan for what happened to him and how he has developed these powers. There is even video proof of the night that everything changed which is when Jordan unleashed his heat vision upon everyone at a party back in the pilot episode. Since then Tag has been getting stronger and faster. Superman soon show up and saves Jordan as Tag tries to run off. He manages to actually evade Superman thanks to his enhanced speed but Superman has other things on his plate as a train is heading right towards him with it's railway tracks all broken and loosened up. Superman does what he does best and saves the day but his worry for Jordan lingers on more and more throughout the episode. Speaking of Jordan he is pretty beaten and shaken up over what happened with Tag but insists to Clark that he is good to play for the Smallville football team in their upcoming important match with Metropolis. Sarah even tells Jordan that she will be there which only spurs him on more. But Jordan is harboring a secret from his dad. You see he begins to have headaches and gets disoriented from loud piercing sounds the first of which were bad happening in school as his eyes begin to glow red. Johnathan is there to help him calm down and he does agreeing to keep it a secret from Clark for the time being. After all Clark is also a coach on the football team don't forget. So for the time being Clark is in the dark about all this.
The last time we see Lois Lane she was still investigating Morgan Edge and that trend continues here as along with Marcus who is actually Captain Luthor pretending to be a reporter aids her in this investigation that takes many twists and turns as the episode goes on. Firstly there is Morgan Edge who gets the people of Smallville back to work fully as he opens the mines. He also promotes Lana Lang to a high ranking job which she gracefully accepts. What's in the mines is of concern as we the viewer knows but that all changes once Marcus manages to wiggle his way inside thanks to forgery passes of fire and safety inspectors. Both him and Lois get a pass each and get inside even though you'd think the security would know Lois right? that being said they do find the mine's secret and it is Kryptonite. But it's not just any Kryptonite it is XK which is Ex-Kryptonite. A Kryptonite that Clark hasn't even heard of. This is what Morgan Edge has been using to bring people back to life and infuse with powers. The mine is practically crawling with the stuff. Of course Marcus must have his own agenda too with this stuff right??
The episode draws to a close as the football game between Metropolis and Smallville takes place. Jordan who is still suffering from headaches plays for Smallville and things aren't looking so good at first. Johnathan has to get subbed on later on due to an injury and this helps in a major way as Smallville defeat Metropolis pretty heavily infact. Things don't go so well for Jordan though as Metropolis players surround him and begin beating and kicking him. He begins to get red eyes again as Clark rushes over to him. No longer able to hold it in Jordan unleashes his heat vision in a giant burst of energy into his dad's hands letting out major frustration and pain in the process. With the game now in the past they all go out to celebrate even though Clark told them to stay at the hotel. Why did Clark tell them to stay though? well turns out Tag is back in Smallville and basically takes Sarah hostage. Not even knowing his own strength he knocks her out and literally runs them to Metropolis. With Superman now on his tail and General Lane Sarah gets saved and Tag captured. The boys leaving the hotel to go party with their teammates is not exactly something they should be doing especially considering how fragile Jordan is at this moment in time. As they're out all breaks loose between both teams and Johnathan ends up getting his shoulder badly damaged. As for Lois she manages to escape the mines with Marcus by the skin of their teeth as Morgan Edge's lackey (she pretty much is) chases them off. But this leaves Lois wondering all about Marcus's true intentions as he is armed with high velocity weapons and tech that a reporter shouldn't have. This is going to be continued she says as she gets the call about Johnathan and his injury. The episode ends back at the Kent Farm as we see Jordan talking with Lois. He talks about the burden having powers has put on his life. He's had to lie to Sarah and is afraid of something bad happening everytime he leaves the house. He is extremely upset and it's really evident in this scene that was really well done. As he sobs into his mom's arm he begins to feel all dizzy again and falls to the porch ground his whole body jumping and rocking. Clark arrives within seconds and says he has to take him to the Fortress before blasting off with his son in his arms. The episode ends on a shot of Clark rushing to the Fortress as Jordan just lays in his arms. And that was the episode it was a good one no doubt about it. It's great to have this show back after what felt like an age away. Lois's Morgan Edge story is ever developing and now she is intent on finding out more about Marcus. As for Jordan who knows what's going to happen there as next week will surely hold a lot more answers. All I can say now is welcome back Lois & Clark oh how I've missed you.
