The Flash 7x5 : Fear Me review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

After last week's season best episode can The Flash continue running at such a high speed? the episode begins at Star Labs as we see Cisco, Iris and Barry discussing the meta from the end of last week's episode. Cisco has dubbed her Fuerza which is Spanish for Strength signalling that she is indeed the the wielder of the Strength Force. Bemused by her strength and ability to just stop energy and convert it Team Flash are left puzzled. What is even more puzzling for Iris and Barry however is when Caitlin and Killer Frost walk into the main room of Star Labs. It's a proper record scratch moment. More so because there was an actual record scratch noise that was rather hilarious. Caitlin explains how both her and Frost have been separated and it's because of Eva McCulloch's mirror energy blast. It caused the separation of the two which Caitlin isn't much of a fan but Frost rather loves it. While everyone is talking blasts of energy begin to bang and flood inside of Star Labs. A body is soon seen floating above the room before falling to the ground. Barry catches the body which just so happens to be that of Nora Allen or should I say the physical embodiment of The Speedforce. Not knowing why she is here the team place her in the med-bay Barry placing his speed force gauge on her which will signal how and when she is getting stronger, but that's the least of everyone's worries right now..

At Joe and Cecil's place we see Cecil alone. It's nighttime and Cecil begins to hear and see things happening in the room. A voice is soon heard and a shadowy figure can be seen. The figure gets louder and closer as Cecil begins to flip out. All that can be see is a pair of purple infused eyes which upon contact with Cecil lead to her having a nightmare that is a lot more realistic that Joe believes to be true as he soon arrives and calms Cecil down. Next day Team Flash get more info on people experiencing their greatest fears which could only mean one thing. A fear based meta human is the loose in Central City. A fear based meta we soon meet whom Cisco later names Psych. He has extremely dangerous powers and nobody is safe from his gaze. The Flash gets caught under his spell and experiences a nightmare / hallucination. A hallucination that includes both Reverse Flash and Savitar straight up killing The Flash. And if you die in this nightmare like state you die in the real world. The wounds left behind are very real which leads to Barry taking a time out for a bit.

The episode draws to a close back at Star Labs as Barry is struggling to deal with Psych. Not only did he experience Reverse Flash and Savitar again but he also saw the death of every Team Flash member at the hands of Fuerza. Could this be soon a reality? or is it all just The Flash's fear of what could happen if they tried to take on the powerful meta? Barry has little time to think as he goes to take on Psych again but this time he's not alone as Frost and Vibe go along with him. All 3 end up getting caught under Psych's guise with Frost experiencing betrayal by Caitlin and Vibe seeing something that we don't see which I'm sure will be explored later on as he brushes it off as something to do with Kamille later. The Flash again sees Team Flash dead all around him with Iris and the others coming to life to tell him that he's failed his family and everyone else. With everyone shaken up we're taken back to Star Labs where Cecil has been for the time being. Barry hatches a plan to use The Thinker's chair with Cecil in the hotseat. As we saw previously Cecil was able to transfer fear into Top a few weeks back. Barry says that with The Thinker's chair she can use her powers to overcome fear for everyone in the city as Psych's power grows stronger. In summary Cecil is successful as her giant wave of energy overrides the fear energy stopping Psych in the process. The last major details of the episode are a lot to take in however as not only is Killer Frost now a wanted fugitive by a new character introduced previously working in Logistics we also see The Speedforce wake up just as Barry goes off to heal himself in the cryo chamber. She tells Team Flash just what happened. She mentions that not only did Psych also attack her but so did Fuerza. What could it all mean?? well obviously it's all connected to the different forces that have been unleashed in the city with Fuerz being the wielder of the Strength Force and Psych the Sage Force. So that means we have one left to uncover..the Still Force. Perhaps in the next episode we'll see that unfold? the episode ends right there and then with another big reveal going forward. I really did enjoy this one. Not as good as last week as the first half of the episode felt a bit filler like but the second half really kicked things into gear. The different Forces storyline is fascinating to watch as a big fan of the source material and all in all this was a enjoyable episode overall.
