The Flash 7x3 : Mother review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

Last week The Flash was at it's near absolute best. So can this week which wraps up the Mirror-verse storyline end in a big way?? the episode begins where last weeks ended with Team Flash waking up from the attack they suffered from The Flash. They awaken to find Barry kneeling down over Iris. We learn that Iris's mind is attempting to re-map itself outside of the mirror-verse. Iris is placed in a coma like state as Central City has become Eva McCulloch's playground so to speak. She can now manipulate all reflective surfaces and has made a ton of people living in the city her minions. Team Flash has zero chance of winning. That's what Barry gets told by Eva who invites him into the mirror-verse where the two speak. Upon being let back out this is what Barry tells the rest of the team as his only concern now is that of Iris. With Barry pre occupied the rest of the team are in for quite a shock as the original Harrison Wells shows up at Star Labs. Dr Harrison Wells who returned at the end of last weeks episode as we saw is here because all of the other Wells throughout space and time basically formed into one and that is him. He has their memories as immediately he knows everyone including Barry.

Speaking of Barry he is seen again sitting next to Iris as she lays on the med bay bed. It's a nice throwback to season 1 where Iris was sitting waiting for Barry to wake up. Barry soon enough gets a jolt of electricity from Iris upon touching her hand. He immediately rushes to tell the others thinking that this spark of energy can be the new source of energy for this new speedforce. A organic source instead of an artificial source The power of love is the ultimate power for The Flash and we even get a variation of one of the shows most famous lines. ''Run Barry..run towards love'' by Harrison Wells. Everyone gets to work as soon enough Iris is awake and powering the machine which actually does end up giving The Flash his speed back with a 100% accuracy rating. It's not long before The Flash, Vibe and Killer Frost are going up against Eva who comes to be known as Mirror Monarch and her stream of minions created from brutal force.

The episode draws to a close with The Flash back and the battle for the city taking place. Joe is stuck inside of the CCPD building with Cecil as one of Eva's followers attempts to break the door down. On the streets of Central City chaos reigns supreme for the time being as even though Flash has gotten his speed back Eva is still faster than him thanks to his speed projecting light. Iris soon shows up and turns the tables on Eva by being able to manipulate bits of glass / mirror that were headed straight for her. Instead of Flash this time it's Iris who manages to talk Eva around. She talks her around to the point where Eva stops to look around and she exactly what she's done. She wants to redeem herself and with the help of Flash and Iris manages to stop all of her minions from destroying the city. She also lets Captain Singh and Kamille out of the mirror-verse much to Cisco's delight. To be honest I really didn't like this. It was flat and just plain ridiculous that Eva would give up so easily after what she put everyone through. It just made the back half of season 6 even more tedious now looking back on given that they put a lot into it. The episode doesn't end there though so that's at least something as there is something potentially huge coming out of what happened. But first more on Harrison Wells and he tells everyone that he is leaving. It turns out that he can time travel with just the snap of his finger and that's exactly what he does right in front of Cisco. I do hope he comes back in future episodes given how important he is to the team and the show as a whole. The episode ends with the potentially huge reveal that happened 18 hours previous. In a flashback to when Barry got his speed back thanks to Iris we see him get hit with lighting. Upon impact a huge blast of lightning shoots right out of the organic speedforce high into Central City's skyline. But the color or lightning isn't just that of The Flash's but instead there is other colors also like Red & Purple. What could this mean?? I'm pretty sure it's got to do with introducing more villains and the impact of everything going forward. It opens up so many doors and for the first time in I don't know how long I am genuinely excited for The Flash and to see what happens next. And that was the episode. Not as good as last week with things like Eva just giving up being pointless but as a whole it wasn't a bad ending to the mirror-verse arc rather a bit of stone in the middle of the road.
