The Flash 7x1 : All's Wells That Ends Wells review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

The Flash finally has it's premiere episode of season 7 and after ending season 6 on a bit of a bum note can it begin to once again run at top speed? the episode begins as we see Barry in his Flash suit in a state of stasis which controls his speed. Chester who is strictly Team Flash now tells Barry that he has 1% of his speed left. Barry who now has a new way of putting on The Flash suit rushes off as reports of Eva Mcculloch come flying in. Flash comes face to face with the villain who can use her powers to move at the speed of light. Flash rushes at her but she simply steps out of the way before blasting him in the back knocking him out. Turns out that Eva is on the hunt of all former Black Hole employees. She plans to rid the world of them and all traces of her husband. First off there is Sam Scudder and The Top who haven't been seen on this show in some time. Eva kills Sam in cold blood stating that she was the one who made Sam what he was. She granted him the mirror powers that he possessed. With him out of the picture Top ends up getting arrested and has an interesting couple of scenes a bit later with Cecil.

At the end of last season we saw that Iris was still stuck in the mirror dimension and here she is still infact inside of the dimension her mind becoming more and more twisted and distorted and she begins to see things and suffers from severe pains. Of course this is all because of Eva who refuses to let her out and controls everything from the outside world. Speaking of Eva we see her at the computer in her office going through a hard drive. She finds a clip simply titled 'For Eva' and it is of the night where the Particle Accelerator hit. The same night where her mirror alter ego self was born. She doesn't play the clip..for now. Back at Star Labs and Barry whose speed is at an all time low is still intent on making and powering an artificial speedforce of his own that will power him much like Reverse Flash achieved with his negative speedforce. Nash Wells, Alegra and Chester are present in the Speed Lab. Nash Wells gets some unexpected visitors from every version of Wells from this show. So there is Harry Wells, Sherloque Wells, a new upper class Hollywood style of Wells and even a returning HR Wells. Nash is seeing all these versions of Wells thanks to the multiverse ending. Once it all came to an end his mind was packed full of all these other versions of Wells. In short they tell him that for The Flash to run again he must die. Nash must be the one to power the artificial speedforce. Not ready to die whatsoever Nash ends up lying to Alegra at first stating that she is the key. She uses her powers to try and power the machine but it's to no avail. Plans get even worse as Barry gets caught in the blast of energy which involved both Alegra and Nash. Funnily enough this causes all the Wells to be transported from Nash's mind to Barry as he becomes every version of Wells in his own unique way. It doesn't last long but this was a fun couple of moments for sure.

The episode draws to a close as the team learn that the only thing keeping Barry's mind from completely shutting down is his speed healing which in turns is also a bad thing as once his speed runs out it's game over. Nash swallows his pride and agrees to be the source of power and fuel for the artificial speedforce. In summary Nash sacrifices himself so that The Flash can run again and it's a quite poignant scene as Nash evaporates into complete energy leaving behind only a pile of dust as the artificial speedforce is now fully powered leading Barry to becoming fully powered once more. Getting his speed back The Flash instantly sets off into the city and stops a bomb from going off atop a plane that is full of Black Hole tech. This again is Eva's doing but The Flash ends up putting a stop to the plan. More on Top being interviewed by Cecil and it turns out that she was infact the brains behind the operation that it appeared Sam Scudder was running. She even shows off a new power and invades Cecil's mind. Cecil ultimately flips the tables and it was here where she learned about the bomb on the plane carrying the Black Hole tech. Could we see Top return again?? I hope so as with this new power of mind invasion and causing someone to experience severe doubt it could lead to plenty of interesting situations. The episode ends as we see Eva once again in her lab. This time she plays the clip that I mentioned earlier and it is of the night where she supposedly got her powers. Turns out that Eva actually died on the night of the Particle Accelerator. The footage shows her hitting the mirror in her office before falling to the ground where her husband cries out to her. The final thing she says before the episode fades to black is that she has been the copy cat all this time?? what could this even mean?? all this time Eva McCulloch has been an imposter?? but if she is that means that an even stronger more evil version of her exists somewhere?? an interesting ending that sets up the season well. And that was the season premiere of The Flash's 7th season. It wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing either. Had some good moments but also some bad. Barry finally getting his speed back is such a good sign. Hopefully this means we get a lot more action going forward as the battle to defeat Mirror Master intensifies. As for Nash Wells his sacrifice was meaningful especially since it was him who did begin the Crisis On Infinite Earths and the destruction of all worlds. I do wonder if we'll see a new version of Harrison Wells or if this is actually it for him. Either way this season of The Flash starts off in a good way let's just hope it can continue this way.
