Superman & Lois 1x3 : The Perks of Not Being a Wallflower review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

After the highs of the last 2 weeks can Superman and Lois keep it's momentum going or will it fumble the ball and fall behind?? fumbling the ball is a total play on this episode as for the most part it focuses on Jordan Kent and his inclusion in the high school football team mainly to help get the bullies and stuff off his back but after some time on the field it becomes a little bit more. Anyways the episode begins with the entire Kent family painting and decorating their new home. Lois starts off by asking for a color to paint the walls with but it's not long before the entire family is playfully painting one another in what was a real light family moment. It's short lived of course as Clark begins to hear distress and panic in the distance. He rushes off and it's lucky he does because an entire bridge is on the verge of collapsing with civilians both on car and on foot running and ducking for cover. Superman of course saves the day in what is a first of two major incidents involving him in this episode. Back at home and Clark gives a little bit of explanation on his super hearing ability. He can hear everything (even the naughty stuff) but over the years he has learned to hone his skill and mainly use it as a tool for listening to those who need him the most. At school and Jordan who did kiss Sarah Cushing in episode 1 is still having a tough time from her boyfriend and his friends. So much so that it looks like Jordan is about to expend his powers once again but this time in front of the entire school. Clark arrives just in the nick of time as we learn that he has been basically using his super hearing to spy and keep tabs on his sons while they've been in school.

At the end of last weeks episode we saw Lois quit The Daily Planet intent on exposing Morgan Edge for all manner of charges. She's taken up a position at the Smallville Gazette and smells a story almost instantly as she gets a visit from a woman claiming that her son who was working for Morgan Edge as a miner mysteriously vanished into thin air leaving behind only a suspicious voicemail stating that this may be the end and that if it is he loves her. Lois is now more intent on bringing down Morgan Edge than ever before. She's working late hours at the Gazette but her new found passion is brought down a peg or two when outside the Gazette not only do we see a man spying on her but later that night she and her co-worker are spooked by a loud bang outside. It is Lois's car and it has been completely torched. Two can play at this game it seems. Back once again at high school and Jordan shows up to football practice much to the surprise of his brother Johnathan. It's time for the Kent boys to fight back as Jordan uses his enhanced strength to fight back against the bullies who have been tormenting him since he began school. And you know what? it actually works as Jordan becomes a surprise hit among fellow players and the coach who takes a bit of a turn on Johnathan.

The episode draws to a close as not only does Clark not know of Jordan's new found success with football he doesn't know either that he is actually using his powers to aid him. Lana Cushing soon butts in as she too is struggling with her daughter Sarah's bizarre reasons for leaving the cheer squad among other things. It is Lana who tells Clark that Jordan has been on the football team which leads to a talk at home. In short Jordan says some things that I'm sure he didn't mean to his father who demands that he go to his room. Johnathan is in the wrong here too according to Clark as he too is told to go to his room. On the outside and Lois reassures Clark stating that Jordan didn't mean what he said. Lois also said she needs Clark's pickup truck for a lead as she sets off to a location chasing down more info on Morgan Edge. Upon arrival at the area Lois gets jumped by the same man who was watching her earlier. She struggles against him but does stab him in the neck with a pen. Superman eventually gets the call and comes to her rescue but all is it not as it seems. Superman rushes at the man and drives him through the wall. Barely hurting the man Superman is stumped for a moment. He throws a punch at the man who stops it right in it's tracks. He obviously has powers as Superman struggles to defeat him or at least render him useless for a moment. Superman soon does and leaves with Lois but there's a lot of questions left behind. The episode ends as we see the man again this time in a car talking to someone, perhaps Morgan Edge? he is soon stopped right in the middle of the road by a woman whose eyes turn red leading to heat vision completely destroying the man in the car. Who is this and what could it mean?? is Morgan Edge using super powered people as hit men / women? could this be something related to Cadmus Labs? unlikely but we'll have to wait and see. The final plot point before the episode ends is that Clark Kent goes to the high school and ends up getting a job as a assistant coach to the football team so he can keep a close eye on his sons..for free. Yes he's doing this for free thanks to Lois which was funny. Jordan and Clark are soon seen going off to practice as Jordan's journey as a football player is underway. So yeah that was the episode. It was easily the worst so far but it did still offer plenty going forward. Jordan's ever changing powers and narrative, the mysterious woman at the end, Morgan Edge and let's not forget Captain Luthor who didn't appear in this episode. There is a lot going on here and I'm thoroughly invested.
