Legends Of Tomorrow 5x11 : Freaks and Geeks review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

Another week and yet another wildly entertaining episode of Legends Of Tomorrow. The episode begins with the Legends further arguing about who gets to access and use the Lume of Faith with Charlie once they find a way to get the power to use it again. Constantine is going through research and comes across a special Chalice called the Chalice of Dinoysus which once ingested grants the person immortality for one single day. This leads to Nate recounting his college fraternity days where he stole a Chalice which looked strangely like the Chalice of Dinoysus in Constantine's notes. He tells everyone that his nickname was Shotgun Nate and that this Chalice is surely in Hudson University in the year 2020. So it's mission time once again and Ava is again placed in charge of the team as Sara continues to deal with being newly blind. Upon arrival and while blending in the Legends learn of a competition that if victorious you get to drink from the Chalice. Astra and Charlie attempt to get into one of the sorority and at first it looks like they're gonna be successful but Astra scuffs their attempts by letting her frustrations with the situation get the better of her. Nate is having a bit more success and along with Charlie again they find the source of the Dinoysus Chalice. It's none other than the Greek God Dinoysus who Nate says was around when he was going to the University. Turns out that he and Charlie know one another which does make sense given they're both Greek gods. Them seem to really get along also with Dino calling Charlie the Lume breaker. He also tells her that he can't just give anyone the Chalice to use freely. They gotta play by the rules and his rules entail being in a fraternity / sorority and taking on the competition that I mentioned earlier. This leads to all sorts of craziness and quirky fun in proper Legends style.

Back aboard the waverider Sara and Ava come up with the idea of the Legends creating their own sorority group called The Sisterhood which includes all the women on-board and also 3 other members who Charlie and Astra had earlier met. Inez Martin, Lisa Lindhome and Silvia Hynes are their names and they all agree to join the sorority as a welcome video gets put to video and posted online. Shotgun Nate however ruins the situation for the newly formed Sisterhood by confessing all to Dino while under the effects of a magic induced beer that he presents Nate with. He tells the God everything from the Legends wanting the Chalice to Charlie not being the Lume breaker no longer as she wants to piece it back together now. As the Sisterhood looks set to burst onto the scene and take part in the competition for the Chalice Dino and his crew including Nate interrupt everything. They barge into Constantine's house which just so happens to be the house of the Sisterhood. He tells them that he knows everything and that he will not stand for Charlie breaking up his party lifestyle when she uses the Lume again. Faith and freewill will no longer exist he says and this in turn will break up his party / fraternity lifestyle he's been living for so long. This leads to a challenge being issued by Sara..
The episode draws to a close as Sara challenges Dino to a game of beer pong for control of everything from the fraternity's and sorority's all the way to the Chalice and it's use. This of course is all after the Legends had previously sabotaged Dino's party on the other side of Constantine's house. Astra really comes into her own in these scenes and actually becomes a genuinely likable character for the first time this season in my opinion. As for Dino it turns out that his followers = his power and everything else that comes with that. Sara's challenge to beer pong is accepted by Dino who really doesn't quite know what he's getting himself into. Sara may be blind but she uses her new found power of seeing the future to bully Dino into defeat declaring herself the winner by totally owning Dino and claiming everything. Dino keeps his promise and gives the Legends the Chalice each Legend (except Zari) taking a sip from the cup. They all soon begin to glow with a strong light which suggests that they're now immortal and can get to work on weaving the Lume of Faith. The episode has a further plot twist however and that is the fact that Charlie's other sister turns up and confronts Astra stating that when she helped her try to kill Constantine she did so by agreeing to owe her a debt and now she has come to collect that debt. What could this mean?? well that's how the episode ends and honestly this episode was fine. It was incredibly silly at times with fraternity and sorority dialogue being heavy. Dino was a fun if a bit stupid character and as a whole this episode wasn't bad by any means but it certainly wasn't the best this season. It's a proper middle of the road episode that won't be remembered much or stick around long in your memory once it ends. Not many episodes remain this season as it the chase to construct the Lume of Faith should now certainly take center stage. Not bad Legends maybe cool down on the beer next time though eh?
