Legends Of Tomorrow 5x9 : The Great British Fake Off review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
Legends Of Tomorrow continues on it's rather great fifth season with yet another thoroughly enjoyable episode. Beginning with Charlie explaining just how she hid the final piece of The Lume of Faith. How she hid the piece is extremely interesting however as she did have help from none other than The Enchantress. A powerful sorceress supreme who has ties to Constantine which is heavily implied especially at the end of the episode. She helps Charlie hide the piece of The Lume of Faith but warns her that she can't run forever from her sisters. Back aboard the waverider and Zari has been keeping up her promise that she made last week. First time we see her is when she complains and angles towards Constantine as she pushes him to find the last piece of The Lume. Constantine comes up with a summoning spell but he'll need everyone's help back at his house. With everyone forming a circle in the middle of the house Constantine starts the spell but before things go inevitably pear shaped we see Sara minutes before. It appears she is developing some sort of power thanks to her interaction with Atropos in last week's episode. We see her on her own her hands trembling. Her powers seem to be that she can see things happen before they happen. Almost like an out of body experience as while apart of Constantine's summoning circle Sara sees Ava's soul leave her body. With the spell now in full swing Sara passes out which breaks the summing circle. Constantine continues to focus on the remaining Lume of Faith piece which appears in the middle of the room before slowly fading out of existence. Both Constantine and Zari go to grab it but end up falling into a hole in the middle of the room..where do they end up? well back in Constantine's house but not as the way it was.
Both Constantine and Zari are greeted by the host of the house an older woman who asks if they are staying for the evening. A doctor too shows up as he intends to stay also. But there's a catch however as the woman won't let Constantine and Zari stay because they aren't together. Oh but they are as Zari and Constantine lie by saying that they're engaged to be married. They get a room and head up stairs hot on the trail of the Lume of Faith piece. The trail leads directly to the room of the Doctor I mentioned earlier. Zari puts her skills to the use and attempts to seduce the Doctor in a manner of speaking. She knocks on his door pretending to be sick with a cough. Constantine lurks in the shadows as when they both go down to the living room he sneaks into the Doctor's room intent on searching it from top to bottom. While being examined by the Doctor Zari's suspicions of him grow fonder and more odd as soon we see him pick up a scalpel. Upon making her escape back upstairs it looks like the Doctor is about to attack Zari but he gets killed by none other than Constantine who chokes him before snapping his neck. It turns out that this Doctor is none other than Jack The Ripper and he now lays dead on the floor. Back aboard the waverider and with Sara out commission Captain Ava steps up and takes her place. We soon learn that an all manner of Encores are travelling through time itself hot on Constantine's coat tails. Ava along with Mick and Gary decides to pay Astra a visit as they are convinced she is to blame for the sudden surge on Encores.
The episode draws to a close as the Encore's appear at Constantine's house. Some of the world's worst and gruesome show up as the same woman from earlier checks them all in. Henry VIII, Bonnie & Clyde and Brutus are just some of the Encores who show up to not only kill Constantine but attain the final piece of The Lume of Faith for themselves as in return they've been promised free reign on Earth. Upon arrival in Hell Ava who is quipped with Genghis Khan's sword marches right to see Astra who tells them that it was not her who sent the Encore's after Constantine. Infact her entire Soul Coin vault has been ransacked including the Constantine Soul Coin which she holds dear. What Soul Coin is left behind is one of Vandal Savage which was a fun nod to this show's very first big bad. Astra agrees to work with Ava but of course it's short lived and she double crosses her as she goes to see the woman she met with earlier in the season. This same woman turns out to be the remaining Greek Weaver named Lachesis whom along with Atropos attempt to recruit Astra to be the 3rd and final Weaver. Promising her ultimate power in return for her services. Astra has one condition before agreeing and that is the return of Constantine's Soul Coin to her which she is agreed upon. Back at Constantine's place and after he assumes the role of Jack The Ripper as a disguise to meet with the other Encores they're all interrupted by Zari who enters the room dressed as Cleopatra. In short both Zari and Constantine manage to defeat the Encores one by one as all kinds of hell weapons are left in their wake. Back again once more in Hell Astra returns to her office where Ava, Gary and Mick are being held. She releases them and gets convinced to join them back in the land of the living. They rush to Constantine's place where they interrupt what was about to be a kiss shared between Constantine and Zari. Inside the Legends take the hell weapons before leaving. But not before the woman who had been checking in guests to the house reveals herself to be none other than Enchantress as everyone leaves. Constantine knows however and as he leaves she says she'll see him again. Hopefully Enchantress sticks around going forward. Anything Justice League Dark related just gets me giddy with excitement and this was exactly that. The episode ends aboard the waverider as Astra walks into the room dumbfounding Constantine in the process. He can't believe she is even out of Hell as she says it's time to make The Lume of Faith. And that's how it ends. All in all this was another really good episode. Legends Of Tomorrow has been mindless fun this season and long may it and this show continue.
