Legends Of Tomorrow 5x7 : Romeo V Juliet Dawn of Justness review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
Legends Of Tomorrow returns once again with an emotional, hilariously packed episode. Beginning aboard the waverider we see Ray thinking back over his time aboard the Legends ship and the time he's spent with all his friends. He's also taking into mind what Damien Dahrk mentioned in last week's episode. That is that Ray and Nora leave the waverider and begin their own normal life in the modern day world. Ray wakes Nora up who is close by and tells her his intentions. He says that he will do one more mission with the Legends and then he is going to call it quits and leave with her. They kiss but almost right away stop thanks to having morning breath and both rush to the bathroom where there just so happens to be a line pilling up all thanks to Zari who is inside getting her glam on. Sara, Ava, Mick, Charlie and Mick all soon arrive to use the bathroom as chaos unfolds in a funny way. Ray lets everyone know of his decision to soon leave but doesn't say anything to Nate in fear of hurting him the most. He says he will tell him later in a private moment and it's just as he says this that Zari comes out of the bathroom looking all kinds of gorgeous. Even Charlie agrees with Zari's glam look. Mona makes a return to the waverider and she's actually become such an enjoyable character. A lot more so then say this time last season when she was pretty much insufferable. She's basically here to push Mick into getting to know his daughter which after last week is going to take a lot of talking to get him to come to a decision on. Back aboard the waverider bridge The Loom of Faith gets some more research as Charlie talks about finding one of the pieces which she gave to a mate of hers many moons ago. This ties into the overall story of the episode as William Shakespeare is the person that was gifted the ring by Charlie.
So it's off to London for all the boys along with Charlie while all the girls stay aboard the waverider for some book club time. Zari gets brought into book club also which really is just an excuse for a bachelorette party for Nora which includes scooter time around the ship and even a male stripper dressed as a firefighter. While the women are enjoying themselves back in London 1594 the Legends run into William Shakespeare who tells them that he traded the ring for more time to work on the ending for his Romeo & Juliet story. Enraged by this Charlie and the rest of the Legends basically have a bachelor party for Ray in the tavern led by Nate who just thinks for the time being that Ray is just going on his honeymoon with Nora to the Bahamas. Charlie ends up getting the ring back from William Shakespeare's boss (not sure if it's said he is but I'mma just go with it) as the Legends come up with an EPIC plan while totally sloshed. An interesting plot point involving Constantine also happens here as back in Hell Astra is given a way to spy on him and find out what is he doing / planning to help her. She learns that he is after the Loom of Faith which is one of the strongest artifacts in the world. Constantine susses her out however and actually hurts Astra in the process of her spying which in turn leads to him being a lot more cautious. Astra isn't the only person that ends up getting hurt as Ray's ATOM suit wrecks havoc inside of the tavern which back at the waverider leads to the Romeo & Juliet novel becoming Romeo V Juliet : Dawn Of Justness instead. A obvious and hilarious parody of Batman V Superman : Dawn Of Justice.
The episode draws to a close as Ray and Nora prepare to leave. This is because Nate finds out about Ray lying to him thanks to over hearing his conversation with William Shakespeare as Ray spills his guts to the writer and poet. Nate takes it pretty hard as back on the waverider he tells of Ray in a scene that much like late in the episode is pretty emotional. With the newest version of Romeo & Juliet now much more like a sci-fi action movie Sara takes the lead and along with the rest of the Legends put on their own version of Romeo & Juliet in front of a packed audience which includes William Shakespeare. So we've got Mick, Constantine, Zari and even Nate in drag as the play gets played to perfection especially by Zari who really flaunts her acting skills in a scene with Constantine that was really, really good. Nate crumbles on the stage as he doesn't want his final goodbye with Ray to be a bad one. This leads to him leaving the area as he heads back to the waverider where he just makes it before Ray leaves. An emotion filled punch follows as even Gideon shares a tear in saying goodbye to Ray. So that's it for Ray and Nora who have now left the show. It'll be a really big hole to fill especially as Ray's presence and overall spirit is what made this show special. The Legends raise a glass in Ray's honor as the episode closes with them all having to run to the bathroom after drinking some of Ray's leftover green juice which Zari funnily loves. And that was that. Ray and Nora have departed from Legends Of Tomorrow in an episode that overall was funny, sweet and sad. Nate and Ray's bromance will forever remain a highlight of this show and going forward it'll be interesting to see how Nate deals with it all. The parody of Batman V Superman : Dawn Of Justice was hilariously perfect and overall this episode was another fine addition to season 5. Legends now leaves us once again and will return on April 7th. Until then it is Legends.
