The Flash 6x10 : Marathon review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
The Flash returns for the first time post crisis and there's plenty of stuff that is happening and even more to get through. The episode begins with the re-opening of CC Jitters in Central City. Of course it ends up getting robbed during their grand re-opening which was funny as even the worker there seemed fed up. The Flash however comes to the rescue and gets a giant round of applause from the people. Back at Star Labs and Cisco who is sporting a Superman t-shirt is struggling to come to terms with just exactly what happened during Crisis and post Crisis. He mentions how all of the hero's are now living in one earth with their backstory's all woven together. He also mentions how meta's from the past are now all likely to return bigger and badder. That's actually a really cool idea honestly in my opinion. It'd be great to see characters like Rainbow Rider who Cisco mentioned returned. At Iris and Barry's apartment Diggle shows up and presents Barry with something that Oliver left for him in his will and testament. It's the original Arrow mask that Barry made for Oliver way back in season 2 of Arrow. Upon examining it Barry notices a residue which immediately sends him into detective mode. He traces it's origin back to Lian Yu and Mirakuru of all things. He quickly catches Dig and races them both off to the island where upon investigation no sign of Mirakuru is found and instead it's a chance to sit and reflect on what Oliver's left behind and the impact of his death has had. This was a sweet moment that further cemented Oliver's legacy.
Towards the mid season finale we saw Iris and her reporter friends investigate shady goings on at McCulloch Technologies. This continues here in this episode and Iris well she blows this case wide open. Upon meeting a source who previously worked for the company she learns of a group named the Black Hole. Seemingly connected to everything she's been doing so far she works her reporter magic and writes a story that if published will right away be deemed null and void by McCulloch. They'll even have the option to sue according to Cecil who warns Iris of all of this. Iris takes her advice but presses on ward with her report. More so after meeting the head of McCulloch Technology. During their meeting he tries to bat off Iris's source as a man who was slowly losing his mind due to seeing tech being stolen from them by a rival company. He refuses to comment on Iris's report which again only fuel's Iris more. Upon publishing the report she like Cecil says gets sued by McCulloch. But that's the least of her worries as in reality a merciless bounty hunter is hunting every person tied to with information of what is going on with Black Hole.
The episode draws to a close as Iris again meets her source but it ends in him being killed by the assassin who turns out to be a new and improved version of Doctor Light. The assassin is someone in a long line of meta's who have been recruited and turned into merciless killing machines by Black Hole. The Team come up with a plan to stall the assassin at Joe's house thanks to some fancy hologram tech while Iris again goes to see the head of McCulloch Technology. She makes him confess and ultimately call off the suing of Iris's company and in turn he'll stop everything in an instant. It's a first real reporter victory for Iris and honestly this was all really good stuff. The episode ends back at Iris and Barry's apartment where after an eventful day for husband and wife they both agree to settle for a quite night together. Beautiful minds think a-like. I really did like this. Iris had her story going on and Barry had his. Both didn't interfere with one another but both didn't really affect the overall vibe and pace either. The episode ends with a big reveal however. Earlier while she was at McCulloch Technology Iris noticed AV3 above one of the doors which when put backwards spells Eva. The name of the head of McCulloch Technology's late wife. She passed away but was known for her work on reflective properties. Iris wakes up during the night and quickly writes AV3 = EVA on a piece of paper. She goes back to McCulloch Technology's and enters a secret room thanks a Black Hole piece of tech that is almost like a key. She enters and finds various notes and research with most of the room just hidden away under white sheets. Iris then removes one of the sheets and asks just what was Eva up to? the episode comes to a sudden end when Iris turns her back to a giant mirror and gets pulled inside of it by two arms that are coated in some silver liquid of sorts. Could this be Mirror Master related?? probably not but I am interested to find out that's for sure. Overall this episode was a welcome back to form for Team Flash. It wasn't perfect but it does end with some major promise for the rest of the season.
