Legends Of Tomorrow 5x2 : Miss me, Kiss me, Love me review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

Legend Of Tomorrow returns from it's week off due to Arrow's series finale and boy oh boy what an episode to return with. It all begins in Hell of all places where we see Constantine finally arrive after casting a spell and drinking body remains of Rasputin last time out. He's in Hell to confront Astra on how she released all damned souls back to the land of the living. Astra tells him that not only is she making money from what she did but she's also gaining power as with each person one of the damned souls kills it all goes directly to her. Constantine is adamant however that he can get through to Astra and ultimately stop her from rising above Hell itself and claiming supreme power. Back aboard the waverider and Nate gets roped into going to see Behrad's parents. Posing as his professor Nate who is still bemused and almost in a trance like state after seeing Zari in a hologram at the end of the last episode agrees to go along and play along. At their house Nate meets Behrad's parents and even bumps into Zari herself. But this Zari is a total contrast from the Zari we've gotten to know over the past few years on this show. This Zari is a big social media starlet with over 50 million people in the Z Nation as she calls it. Nate gets completely thrown for a loop here as he is clearly in love with Zari but this new version of her doesn't take nicely to his odd behavior. More on this situation a bit later as it really is put on hold for the rest of the episode almost.

Back aboard the waverider and just as Nate and Behrad leave a new time quake is found in history. It's in Los Angeles 1947 the Golden Age of Hollywood. Ray, Sara and Constantine go alone leaving Mick and Ava on board the ship. What they find down below is that a new Encore (what they're calling the damned souls from hell) is on the loose and already has claimed a victim. A victim who just so happens to own the investigators office they are in. This leads to all 3 posing as various different things like Constantine complete with an American accent posing as one of the investigators, Sara his secretary and Ray as a police officer. They are all just about to leave when a woman shows up seeking out the investigators. She is lead to believe that the legends are in charge as the woman turns out to be girlfriend of one Benjamin ''Bugsy'' Siegel. The woman is Virginia Hill and she claims that Bugsy has returned to the land of the living after being killed over a week or so ago. The Legends question her further and learn that Bugsy is carrying a gun that has special ammunition inside. Ammunition that when fired turns people to ash in seconds. Ray offers Mrs Hill some money and she goes on her way having in reality just played Ray and the Legends in a way. So Bugsy is the Encore on the loose and we finally meet him at his club the Blue Iguana where Mick and Ava show up at to scout the area. What follows with Ava is equal part hilarious and rather sad as her character both grows as a person and develops as a character as she struggles to come to terms with the idea of not working for the Time Bureau anymore by drinking the night away. This in turn leads to a rather hilarious musical number with the song this girl is poison. It starts out pretty spectacular with Ava's voice being soft and silky smooth but in a nice twist in reality she's so bad the entire club empties out leaving nobody but Sara, Mick and a just out of jail Bugsy to see the effect her singing as had on the place. Why was Bugsy in jail?? well after meeting Sara who used her Lance charm to get to know him a little better while they were just about to get down to business rival gang members showed up and tries to assassinate Bugsy. He does end up actually getting riddled in bullets but there's no effect but after he uses his gun packed with hellfire ammunition which is what I'm referring to it as he kills all the men in an instant. Ray looks and stands up to Bugsy as the LAPD arrive to take him in. So yeah Bugsy basically has everyone in his pocket as not long after we see him being let go and this is where he shows up back at his club.
The episode draws to a close as Constantine gets closer to Mrs Hill. The two end up sleeping together or at least it's implied that way. With Bugsy soon captured by the Legends Constantine and Mrs Hill go to look for his secret stash which has information on every single person in the city. They both agree that it must be destroyed but once it's in Constantine's hand Mrs Hill points Bugsy's gun at John claiming that she is sick of feeling powerless and says it's about time she fought back. Constantine ends up taking her out of what she's doing but it's already too late for her as she gets into her car and starts the ignition it explodes in front of him killing Mrs Hill in the process. Back aboard the waverider Constantine then takes Bugsy to Hell where he uses the remaining hellfire bullets on various thugs and the final one on Bugsy himself killing him for good this time. All right in front of Astra. Why didn't he just kill her and be done with all this?? well he assures her that he will turn her around and make her see what she is doing is wrong. Even if it takes until the end of his days he will do it. But the episode has one final surprise in store and that's when Zari confronts Nate and her brother about a video she's found of them at Heyworld over 24 years ago. They try to convince her that she is just being ridiculous but just as she is about to show their parents Behrad opens a pathway to the waverider and Zari unknowingly steps aboard. Surprised by literally everything on board including Gideon the episode ends with Zari screaming. This episode was top tier stuff. It truly felt like the Legends of old and while it still wasn't perfect if it can keep up this quality going forward then Legends will truly have found it's mojo again. The new version of Zari is a delight to watch. I'm sure the old version will return at some point this season but going forward I can't wait to see more of the Encores and how this Zari fits into it all. Long live the Legends Of Tomorrow.
