Frozen II review
Back in 2013 the original Frozen movie arrived and literally took the world by storm. You couldn't not hear ''Let It Go'' for months on end and overall it was an amazing piece of cinema. With it's sequel finally arriving 6 years later can it live up to it's older siblings giant shadow? All of our favorite characters are back in Frozen II and some are better than ever. The movie begins with a young Anna and Elsa being told the story of a long forgotten tribe who lived in a giant forest area by their father. His father who was the King of Arendelle worked in unison with the tribe but something eventually ends up happening which causes the four spirits of the world to close off the forest and surround it in a giant mist trapping everyone inside of it. So it's up to Elsa and her friends to find out just what happened and how they can reverse it. This is actually a really great story that not only expands on the first movie but broadens this universe even further with the inclusion of a long forgotten tribe, Earth giants and more.
Visually Frozen II is absolutely spectacular. It's colorful, vibrant and engaging. All the voice cast from the first movie return and again are incredible. Josh Gad's magic infused snowman Olaf steals the show here including various one liners, sensitive moments and a lot of body swapping. He isn't just here for fun though as sometimes he offers a lot of depth and helps move the plot along fast. Elsa and Anna are all singing all dancing and it's truly a joy to watch. Frozen felt like a giant love letter to sisterly love and it does return here also but there's also another tone lying deep beneath the surface. Love conquers all whatever form it may be.
Frozen II is a movie aimed at a younger audience sure but really it's for everyone. It has so much heart, is hilarious at times and showcases love and the bonding between people in a terrific way. It's breathtaking visually and is so beautiful to just sit and get lost in. In summary Frozen II is not only just as good as it's older sibling it's on par if not better and is the finest animated movie of 2019. This is one you just must go and see.
