Dora and the Lost City of Gold review

I'm not ashamed to admit that I watched a lot of Dora The Explorer growing up as I imagine plenty of other kids now adults did too. It was an educational albeit simple show at points but it was a lot of fun and the world and characters were all interesting and engaging. So when I first heard that Dora would be getting her own adventure movie I was a bit skeptical at first. But with the casting of Isabela Moner, Eva Longoria, Michael Pena and more my interest was certainly peaked. And it's not only great actors but even more incredible voice actors are brought into this universe as Danny Trejo voices Boots the Monkey who is Dora's childhood friend and who goes on all her adventures with. And Swiper the Fox who is voiced by Benicio Del Toro. All the characters from the animated show are here and it's all incredible charming.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold follows a slightly older Dora as she attempts to adjust to the life in the big city after spending years living in the jungle with her parents. Adjusting to the city is not easy at first however as she struggles to make friends especially when her positive attitude seems to annoy everyone including her own cousin Diego. Speaking of that positive mental attitude Isabela Moner is incredible as Dora throughout. Not only does she look like the cartoon version she's a little ball of energy and you just can't help but love it whenever she's on screen. The rest of the cast do a good job also but Moner as Dora just blows everyone else away and that's a good thing as really if Dora was portrayed right this just wouldn't work. I won't go much further into the story incase of spoilers but once we're dropped back into the jungle in search of Dora's parents it's an action packed adventure that is genuinely one of the most fun experiences you'll have this year.
Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a charming adventure that is highly entertaining throughout. Dora would give Lara Croft a run for her money here as Isabela Moner is fantastic and her positive attitude is so warm and opening. The various other characters are really likable and it's message of being true to yourself and never letting others bring you down is just brilliant. Can you say excellent?? excelente, Muy Bueno!
