The Flash 5x20 : Gone Rogue review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

Nora West Allen turning to the dark side and using the negative speedforce was a nice surprise at the end of last week's episode. But can it continue like that this week?? beginning with Nora whose lighting has now a red glowing from it we see her speaking with Gideon. She sabotages some hard drives and reveals that she has a plan to steal some stuff from a company named Mculloch Technologies. Gideon suggests calling The Flash for help but Nora says no. She says she needs people she can trust. So in come Rag Doll who we saw earlier this season. Weather Witch and The Bug Eyed Bandit who hasn't been seen since season 4 of Arrow. They all gather in what looks like a run garage and inside Nora also shows up. They all ask what this is all about and turns out Nora wants to work with them. She wants to work with them and with their help steal the meta human tech inside of this Mculloch Technology building. They all end up agreeing but not before Weather Witch guesses Nora's identity and says that her old man is The Flash. Finally someone notices that XS is Nora. It's so obvious to see, her mask isn't exactly very concealing. Back at Star Labs Barry and co are having trouble wondering why the can't pick up Nora's signal within the city. Well it turns out that's because she's been using negative force and tachyons as a way to mask her signal so nobody could know where she was. After reviewing the crime scene from the beginning of the episode Barry learns of this and at Star Labs later Nora shows up. Of course this is all part of her plan as she with the help of the Young Rogue's attempt to take out The Flash. The scene that followed was one of the best from this episode as Barry and Nora argue about how he treated her. He just left her on some random street in the future without even truly caring. As the scene gets more tense Barry moves towards Nora and as he does her face begins to vibrate. Her lighting surges throughout her body before finally her eyes turn red and she speaks like Reverse Flash. She takes out Barry as her and the Young Rogues make their escape.

Back at the garage where Nora has been coming up with her plan we see Cisco and Sherloque tied up. Nora's employed a strict no killing rule which led to the kidnap of not only Cisco which was part of the plan but also Sherloque. The plan is for Cisco to hack / fix the phone that Spencer Young had from earlier in the season so Nora can use it for her own reasons. Cisco funnily mentions how it's all like the time Savitar kidnapped him for his help with the speed cannon. And in a way it's exactly like that which was hilarious. With their plan in place The Young Rogues with the help of Nora all get passes to help get inside the Technologies building to get the meta tech. While inside they find the secret room that houses the meta tech but it's locked. Only someone with extremely high security clearance can enter. This is where Rag Doll comes in handy as he shifts and contorts his body to get through one of the pipes that lead into the room. Inside is the tech and not surprisingly Weather Witch and The Bug Eyed Bandit turn on Nora. Claiming that she should have never trusted them they tie her up and make a demand video for the public to see. The want The Flash to turn up in 30 seconds and reveal himself or everyone in the room will die. The Flash does turn up but not in the way they wanted as it's only the hologram version of him. Being portrayed by Sherloque back at Star Labs. The real Flash is already in the room, along with Joe and Iris who all used the face changing tool that HR had in season 3. The Young Rogues led them right into the room where the tech was. Flash's end up reuniting as I expected as Nora and Barry deal with the Rogues. But not before Nora and Barry make up and it looks like Nora's lightning reverts to normal color as purple and yellow stream from around her as her and her dad embrace. So why did Barry have the change of heart then when it came to trusting his daughter?? even though he is still against her working with Thawne it turns out to be Joe who offers him so fatherly words of wisdom of his own. Back at Star Labs once more and Nora says she got in too far over her head with The Young Rogues. She was too easy in trusting which only led to people almost getting hurt. She did however get the meta tech which is a weapon that can shrink down Cicada 2.0's dagger thus rendering it's dampening powers useless.
Speaking of Cicada 2.0 the episode comes to a close at Star Labs as earlier Caitlin and Ralph had gone to her dad's Arctic lab after a signal was tripped. Inside Caitlin sees that all the fridges have been emptied including the one which housed Cisco's not completely finished meta human cures. And with the frozen tech that Cicada 2.0 took at the end of last week's episode Caitlin says she can now use that to turn the cure into a weapon that can be spread throughout the city. The last thing we see is Cicada 2.0 who seems to be working on something. She's singing while doing so and as the camera pans upwards we see the original Cicada standing over her, watching her. So he's not dead? or he is? I don't get this ending at all but I guess we just have to wait and see what happens. Overall I liked this episode. It wasn't mindblowing or anything but did move the narrative along pretty well. Seeing Nora on Team Rogue even for a short while was interesting even though I knew it wouldn't last. There was also some fun throwbacks to previous seasons including Cisco's joke about Savitar and the Speed Cannon and even Barry watching footage from season 1 where Cisco tried to create the speed barrier to stop the Reverse Flash. Nothing major in terms of plot development but I enjoyed those scenes nevertheless. As for Cicada 2.0, her plan is finally about to get in motion and with only 2 episodes left it looks like things are about to heat up for Team Flash.
