Supergirl 4x14 : Stand and Deliver review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

Continuing on from last week's best of season episode this week's edition of Supergirl is a really good follow up. Beginning with The Elite whom we see coming out of a diner the three talk and agree on a plan of sorts. Eventually each going in different directions. Menagerie spots a woman wearing a pearl necklace and follows her to a car park. In the car park we see Menagerie but no sign of the woman. we do however John, Kara and Dreamer who stand up to the villain and ask her where the rest of The Elite are. She doesn't answer their questions and is take back to John's PI office where she annoys Nia with talk of fashion nonstop. Speaking of Nia funnily enough she spends the majority of the episode in her Dreamer costume which was funny. Back at Cat.Co we see that James is continuing his deep delve in L Corp's black budget. He even calls Eve (Lena's assistant) to his office but she reassures him everything is in order and nothing shady's going on. So after being appointed as his Director Of Alien Affairs last week Ben Lockwood who upon giving his very first speech has to deal with a threat on his life by The Elite. Supergirl and co save the day as Manchester and Hat look on but it just seemed incredibly silly for their to be an assassination attempt so fast into Lockwood's reign. I know he isn't the greatest of guys but c'mon it's just lazy. Speaking of Lockwood though and after the attack on him he is assigned security detail. And it's none other than Alex who as we know has little to no respect for Lockwood. She even says so more or less right to the guy's face at the DEO after Colonel Hayley says that she is the best agent for the job.

More on The Elite now and after the attempt on Lockwood's life wasn't successful Hat takes Manchester on a trip. To none other than The Fortress Of Solitude where they attempt to extract information and gather tech that can help the cause. It looks like Hat and Black's relationship is broken up here as the two argue but it was all a ruse as Supergirl, Dreamer and John turn up Black enters a room in the back and is seemingly killed..or is he?? inside was a special type of Alien that when someone comes into contact explodes. Hat saved Manchester in the nick of time and after hiding in the fifth dimension for a spell the two return. And as they return a massive Alien rally takes place in National City. Much earlier in the episode after trying again to speak to the people Ben Lockwood made his first intention clear. He wants to repeal the right for Aliens to live on earth. The Aliens living in the city don't take well to this at all and after a mysterious person online named #AmericanAlien (it's actually Brainiac-5) manages a mass rally against the repeal Supergirl at first seems hesitant to join in. Kara says it's too risky and instead wants everyone to just go on patrol. Brainy wishes she would join them and later at the rally after seeing Lockwood's second in command be a complete jerk to aliens Kara joins the rally and leads them. Complete with Kryptonian garb Kara Zor El leads the rally to the location where Ben Lockwood is having a rally/speech of his own. He is strongly against Aliens as we known and tries to really get the people of National City on his side. The Alien march led by Kara ends up walking in on Lockwood's speech and a massive chaotic brawl breaks up. Not only including Aliens, Children Of Liberty but also The Elite as Manchester shows up with a new ability. Various clones surround the building leaving John to go after them as Brainy, Dreamer and Supergirl tend to Hat. Hat is eventually captured which just leaves Manchester Black. John catches up with him in a back room and the two duke it out. Ultimately though it's just another clone. The real Manchester is looking on at John's failings. Back in the main room the chaos starts to die down as the track 'Mad World' plays perfectly over a scene that is both moving and empowering. Aliens and Humans a like pick each other up and help one another. James Olsen is here also and captures a picture of a Human helping an Alien. A picture that gets headline news attraction. So as the chaos dies down we see John again looking for Manchester. He turns into his Martian self and says that he's made a Manhunter out of him. Obvious nod to Martian Manhunter.
The episode ends back at Cat.Co where after what just went down Ben Lockwood has no other choice then to stop the repeal against Aliens. Kara is ecstatic over this and along with Nia go to celebrate. Later that night however as James is leaving his office he gets shot surprisingly out of nowhere. And that's how the episode comes to an end with James laid out on the floor with a bullet wound. Who knows who was the shooter but I'm interested to find out. As you can probably tell I once again really enjoyed this episode. It was a great follow up to last week and while not as good it did offer just enough to draw me in. Manchester Black is just fantastic and easily one of my favorite characters on this show period. Kara rising up to help her Alien brothers and sisters was great and James's shooter mystery begins. Add to that next week's episode we're finally going to meet John Cryer's Lex Luthor which based on the promos is going to be absolutely amazing. Until next week then!
