Arrow 7x15 : Training Day review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

Arrow returns for another week and after last week's rather brilliant episode this is also a very enjoyable ride. Beginning at SCPD we see one of the cops giving a pep talk to all new recruits. Of course as we known these recruits include all members of Team Arrow with Dinah as the Captain. So we see various things like training and stuff. The crew are tasked with their first mission / assignment after learning of a new type of substance in bullet form is found to have killed 4 gang members. The culprits? well it's another gang named the Blackout gang who are being supplied these new bullets by a medical company named Midas Medical. The head of the company is James Midas and throughout the episode he constantly evades capture. Even once managing to worm his way around the Mayor. The team's first mission doesn't go so well so it all adds to the tension and feeling the episode is going for. Back at their house and Felicity whom is getting morning sickness pretty bad also suffers from some serious cravings. Both her and Oliver end up telling Diggle about the baby and he is excited to say the least. He even offers Felicity a way to beat the morning sickness later in the episode back at the bunker. Yes the bunker makes a return here finally. But more on it a bit later.

In the future and after finding a cassette at the end of last week's episode Mia and William are tracking down a cassette player at the black market area in Star City. Mia tell William to stay put while she goes and tries to sort something out. He doesn't and wonders up to a seller who says he'll sell him the player for 1000 dollars. The two haggle and end up agreeing on 500 and once Mia comes back William finds out that he's been duped as a young girl bumps into him and rips it out of his pocket returning it to the original seller. Star City sure isn't a great place huh?? so after this William hacks the police's comms and says that the Black Canary has been sighted leading to a group of people running from the black market area. This leaves Mia to work her magic and get the cassette player back, knocking out the seller which was funny. More on the bunker now and after failing their first mission as a part of SCPD together Oliver questions if they are doing things the right way. He even goes outside of the law and apprehends Midas like I mentioned earlier. The Mayor doesn't like this as expected and gives the team a fair warning. Oliver and Felicity then decide to go back to the bunker as it's tech is far superior to that of the SCPD. Not long after everyone else walks in and agree to to take down Midas once and for all and put a stop the distribution of the chemical based bullets. The team really go all out this time and both secure the weapons which Midas was going to have destroyed and apprehend Midas himself for real this time. Back at the bunker and after forcing the Mayor's hand has her agree to make the team a sort of black ops unit for the SCPD much to the delight of Rene especially. I genuinely liked the conflicting values of Oliver especially here as he stood on a fine line between being a part of the SCPD and doing things the right way or returning to his old vigilante ways.

So remember last week's ending when Diaz was seemingly burned alive?? well the killer was revealed in this episode..sort of. Laurel goes to Slabside to see Turner (Bronze Tiger) who says he say who killed Diaz walk right by his cell. He has some terms though, either release him earlier for his information or bring him his son. Laurel agrees to the later and brings his son who is none other than Connor Hawk who we know gets adopted by Diggle in the future. Turner gives her the name of the killer and it's Emiko. But why?? well after calling her to her office Emiko and Laurel talk. Laurel basically calls her out on what she supposedly did but Emiko responds by saying she knows she is Black Siren which is odd because how could she know really?? I think Emiko did kill Diaz that is to say if he is dead for Dante as a way to further prove her loyalty to him. The episode ends as William and Mia finally listen to the tape and it's a message from Felicity. She gives them co-ordinates and upon exiting the building Mia says she knows where that is. Pointing to The Glades which are surrounded by a giant wall. So overall how was this episode?? it was good. Nothing amazing or anything but definitely solid. Looks like Training Day for Team Arrow didn't go so bad after all.
