The Flash 5x13 : Goldfaced review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

This week's episode of The Flash begins with Sherloque Wells who is still attempting to find out who Nora West Allen is working with. Nora seems increasingly frustrated by this and goes to the future to ask Eobard Thawne for help. He knows of Sherloque Wells and says that his weakness is his love life. If Nora was to push him into a situation where he meets someone new then all his attention would be on that person and not the goings on of Nora and Eobard. So off Nora goes as she and her go to Jitters to get some tea / coffee. At Jitters Nora surveys the situation and manages to make it so that someone spills coffee which leads to a lady slipping on the coffee only for Sherloque to catch her in the air. Impressed by this the woman thanks Sherloque and they get to talking. Almost right away clicking things take a creepy turn when he mentions what she does for a living and how she grew up. With creep levels at maximum the woman leaves calling Sherloque a stalker. Nora who seems to never give up on anything says that all is not lost and that she will help Sherloque get her back on his side. It's later revealed that Sherloque has been married 7 times on various different Earths as we've previously known, but things are taken to a rather hilarious level when we learn that he married the exact same woman on each Earth. And the woman that he met in Jitters is once again the exact same. Much like the Council Of Wells from last season there is various versions of the character who Sherloque says is the woman for him. More on this as the episode comes to an end.

Have you ever wanted to see an episode of The Flash where very little powers are used?? well look no further as Ralph and Barry take on a mission to find a very secretive anti matter force field which will aid them in their battle against Cicada. After visiting one of Ralph's old friends they learn of a Black Market located in a specific location within the city. Upon arrival Ralph utters the words ''The streets are paved with gold'' and both men are sucked beneath the ground as a hole opens up and closes above them. Down below is a black market just like Ralph's friend said. Home to many guns, ammo and the like. Upon entering Ralph & Barry have anti meta hand cuffs placed on them. So if any wrong moves one of their hands can go boom. This leads to no powers for the majority of the rest of the episode as Barry goes all hero upon learning of the black market having guns that can blow through cops armor and destroy it in seconds. Unnerved by this Barry asks the seller if he can buy all guns which spooks the guy leading to a meeting with the guy in charge himself..Goldface. Ralph gets outed as a meta almost right away but Barry comes up with a backstory that is equal parts hilarious and weird. He mentions how he is called The Chemist a high roller meta who has never gotten caught by the cops as he leaves red herrings at all his crime scenes. Impressed by his words Goldface tasks both Barry and Ralph with helping him retrieve a 3D printer from a warehouse that produce artificial organs. In return he will give them what he wants. Both agree and at the warehouse they are outed to and a gun battle ensues that reminded me a lot of laser tag and the like. Both Barry and Ralph clean house before going outside to be greeted by Goldface himself who says he is going to kill them in a more traditional way. Turns out Goldface is not just a nickname as the guy is literally made out of gold. Transforming his fist into pure gold he takes out Ralph leaving Barry with a chance to electrocute him. He does and Gold comes spewing out of him but it doesn't kill him much to the relief of Barry. So no force field was acquired but Barry and Ralph did learn something important. They can go up against villains without their powers sometimes and still prevail.
The episode ends back at Jitters where we once again see the woman Sherloque has been courting ever since he laid his eyes on her. Asking for a second chance he puts his detective skills to use and impresses her much to his own delight. She agrees to a second chance and as she leaves Jitters the door blows wide open even before she gets near enough to it. Sherloque says to himself that she's a meta and has a surprised look on his face. All in all though this episode was really really good. Barely any powers were used which was great to be honest and the narrative while not perfect did flow well enough. This is The Flash at his almost best.
