The Flash 5x10 : The Flash & The Furious review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it

The Flash finally returns for a round of new episodes after what seemed like an age away. Especially given how the mid season finale ended with the reveal that Nora is working with the Reverse Flash himself Eobard Thawne in 2049. And that is where the episode begins as Nora questions Eobard about his obsession with The Flash and just why he killed Nora's grandmother in front of Barry as a child. Thawne for the first time in this show that I can remember shows his true obsession with The Flash coming to the point of actually wanting to be him. Nora says that she will never be him and says that he can't be trusted. I really enjoyed Nora's story arc throughout this episode as she struggles with the idea of if a villain can actually turn good or at least show good like qualities. Barry mentions Leonard Snart who was one of the biggest villains in Central City who turned out to be a Legend. He died a hero in a sense as Nora continues to struggle with the issue.

It wouldn't be an episode of The Flash without a meta of the week right?? and this episode is no different as Silver Ghost is the meta showcased. Someone who can take over any kind of vehicle or motorized engines with the aid of dark matter infused tech. Barry gets wind of her while in court alongside Nora just as he is about to testify against Weather Witch. He races off and catches up with Silver Ghost but as he gets close the car emits dark matter like veins much like a few episodes back when Barry and co faced off against that news headline meta. The Flash is thrown into the air by the blast and is placed into a state of fazing with only Nora there to try and slow the process. Back at Stab Labs Cisco and Caitlin tell Barry to faze through the ground since one of the pipeline prisons is right below the room they are in to which he does. The room emits power dampening technology and Barry stops fazing but has to stay in the cell for 24 hours.

Nora really ups her game from here on out and goes to testify against Weather Witch in Barry's place. She does go a bit overboard but in the end the villain ends up telling the judge that she is guilty and is placed into custody. Weather Witch genuinely seems remorseful and while being taken into custody is captured by Silver Ghost who wants them to work together. Having a hard time agreeing to this Weather Witch tries to turn herself in but is actually tricked by Nora who ends up taking her right into the main room of the CCPD building. Nora believes that she will never change and is only using all this as a way to further her plans. It was interesting how Weather Witch was being remorseful but it's short lived unfortunately as Silver Ghost breaks her out of prison and the two steal a Wayne-Tech car prototype from ARGUS. Nora and Killer Frost rush to the rescue as Barry is still stuck in the pipeline for another few hours yet. The scene that follows was actually really cool as the prototype car showcases all it's various functions. It ca shoot missiles, faze and even go invisible. It's not Nora who stops it however as the Weather Witch creates ice on the road unknowingly to Silver Ghost which stops the car in it's tracks.
Back at Star Labs and Barry is finally freed from the pipeline cell much to the delight of everyone. Barry is super important to this show obviously but having Nora as the lead was really refreshing to me. The episode ends as Nora once more travels to 2049 and tells Eobard Thawne that even if there is a good piece of a person inside of him she wants to see it or else she is finished with him. He mentions how little time he has left and we're shown a timer which says something like 51 minutes and 23 seconds. No idea what that means but eventually Nora agrees to help him and asks what is next. I enjoyed this episode a lot. The inclusion of Nora as the main Flash was a nice surprise and the meta while not entirely interesting did enough to keep me engaged. Until next week Team Flash!
