Supergirl 4x10 : Suspicious Minds review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it
Supergirl returns from it's mid season break and what a strong episode to return with. It begins with the second Kara / Supergirl that's been show various times throughout the season so far. She is shown training as she blows up drones attacks tanks and various other stuff. The guy in charge of training her forces his workers to train her even harder as it won't be just tanks she will be going up against. Skip to the Supergirl we know and love and while working out with Lena Kara using her super hearing hears people in danger far away. She chalks up her leaving to muscle cramp and tells Lena that she is going to ice her aches and pains. Supergirl eventually ends up on a ship with everyone on board slaughtered. She hears a bomb and just as she picks it up one of the soldiers gets dragged overboard by what Supergirl says is a shimmer. Colonel Hayley, Alex and Brainiac-5 show up and the Colonel and Supergirl disagree heavily. This leads to the Hayley focusing all her attention on finding the identity of Supergirl because if she does she will be able to control Kara and make her do whatever she says. More on this later.
John Jones finally after many episodes opens his very own Private Investigation office / firm. Brainiac-5 is the first seen inside and he asks John to be there for Kara no matter the cost. He even offers him money which was funny but John refuses. Kara later visits John's new office asking for help and advice on the alien that she saw. Turns out that only Supergirl can see it in plain sight thanks to her x-ray vision. Going through various files from the past Kara & John learn of a secret project that has been covered up by three colonel's and of course one of them is Hayley. The project was the capture torture and redeployment of alien like children which were to be used as assassins. John, Alex and Supergirl go and pay one of the Colonel's named Tan a visit and they are attacked by the creatures which are Dominator like in appearance and with the aid of a cloaking ability are extremely difficult to spot and take out. Supergirl struggles with them as they move fast and swift. Her and Alex eventually get one and it looks like they are going to take it back to the DEO but the creature ends up killing itself instead of going back to the DEO. Colonel Tan is killed during all of this and Alex goes to Hayley to demand answers. Hayley demands answers of her own back at the DEO as one of the agents gives up Supergirl's secret identity. Colonel Hayley knows that Kara is Supergirl now but it can't be discussed fully right now as the remaining creatures show up trying to kill the remaining Colonel. The DEO goes into assault mode and do manage to take out one of the aliens but just as the other gets the upper hand and has Hayley primed for annihilation Supergirl shows up and saves her. The Colonel isn't all that grateful however as she tells Supergirl that she knows who she is. She says that once she is granted permission to work for the DEO again she will do whatever she says or her secret will be revealed to all. Alex having heard enough knocks out Hayley and calls up John to come and wipe her mind of Supergirl's true identity. John agrees but the next day at the DEO the Colonel turns up with an alien like creature named the truth seeker that has the power to reveal all secrets and dispel any lies.
The episode ends back at John's new office as those who know Supergirl's true identity agree to have their minds wiped so that the truth seeker won't be able to find out through them. The real kicker here though is that Alex also has to have her mind wiped which leaves Kara absolutely distraught. She says that she could leave, she could leave and go do something else. But Alex stands by her decision and as she gets her mind wiped Kara leaves the room and that's where it ends. I really did enjoy this episode a lot. The struggle of Kara dealing with her dual lives is always interesting to me and the ending I really didn't expect either. A fine outing for Kara and co. It's great to have this show back.
