The Flash 5x7 : O Come, All Ye Thankful review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it

Much like last season's 7th episode told the origin of Devoe and how he ended up becoming The Thinker! this episode tells the story of Cicada and how he became the big bad of this season. The episode begins at Central City Hospital where we see Cicada looking over what we think is his daughter but it's later to be revealed that it's actually his sister's child but his sister was called in a meta attack. At the hospital and as he continues to watch her we see Barry enter the hospital looking for Grace's room. Barry is stopped by the doctor who has been helping Cicada and she tells him that both of the young girls parents are dead and that the team at the hospital is all she has left. Barry takes the information and leaves but is continuously suspicious throughout the episode. The doctor tells Cicada to lay off coming to visit Grace but he tells her no way and ends up going to see her again. Back at Barry and Iris's apartment and we see Barry attempting to bake some pies in anticipation for their first family thanksgiving at their apartment since Joe & Cecil are spending the holiday elsewhere. Sherloque Wells doesn't seem so convinced on the whole thanksgiving concept as he lists out just what happened to Cisco and Caitlin this year leaving them with nothing to be actually thankful for (the guy had a point) he eventually comes around though and all of Team Flash celebrate the holiday together.

The Weather Wizard returns but not in his usual evil ways. While inspecting Iron Heights Barry and Nora are interrupted by Weather Wizard's daughter aptly named Weather Witch. She shows off some impressive weather controlling skills and tells The Flash that if her father isn't brought to her in an hour the city will be completely destroyed by disaster weather effects. Barry and the team try to dupe the Weather Witch but it's no use as she sees right through the plan. Later as she is about to destroy the city by creating a giant swirling tornado of electricity Barry runs around it and right away I got season 1 episode 1 flashbacks from when The Flash took on the first Weather Wizard. Barry ultimately stops the Weather Witch and both her and her dad are placed in Iron Heights leaving Team Flash to finally enjoy the holiday together as one big family.
More on Cicada and his flashbacks now and as he is given legal guardian ship of his sister's child he struggles to adapt to the situation at first. He shows very little care and offers very little in terms of effort but that all changes over time as they both get to know one another and eventually he agrees to be a better person for her and himself. That brings us to the night of Devoe's big plan and the season finale last season when various debris begins to fall from the sky Cicada gets hit by something right into the chest which results in that scar that we've seen already this season. What hit him?? well it was his dagger that pierced his chest. With little life left in him he rushes himself and Grace to the hospital where they are both taken care of. Cicada is told that she might never come out of his coma and as The Flash appears on TV and with his new dagger in hand he vows to Grace that all meta humans must die before it ends. This episode was fantastic overall. I can't fault this season of The Flash so far. It has everything going for it. A fantastic and interesting villain in Cicada, a brilliant relationship between Barry, Nora and Iris and features little to none of the silly stuff from last season. This is Team Flash at it's finest.
