The Flash 5x5 : All Doll'd Up review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it
This week's episode of The Flash begins at Star Labs where Barry and Iris talk about how Nora has been distant the past 2 weeks. They are interrupted by a theft alert at Central City art museum. Barry races into action but Nora too answers the call and even goes as far as to turn off Iris's communications. Speaking of Nora she is incredibly annoying throughout a lot of this episode which was so odd since she's been my favorite part of the season so far. Sure what happens to her in the future is horrible but her reactions and attitude towards Barry and Iris especially come off as her being a spoiled brat and it doesn't suit her at all in any way. Her relationship with Iris is really good though besides the attitude changes. Iris's continuous search for answers on why she does what she does in the future and Barry constantly backing her up and reminding her that she is a good person is also good throughout.
Ragdoll appears for the first time on the show. After being created on the same night of Devoe's attack at the end of season 4 Peter Merkel gains the ability to twist and contort his body into any shape and size. Leading to some visually if a bit creepy visuals of him squeezing through a vent and getting himself out of a gift box. He doesn't pose much of a physical threat as he is easily defeated with the help of Ralph after Barry is kidnapped and taken to a high point in the city. But it's actually Iris who ends up saving her husband by literally jumping from the top of the building after Ragdoll tips Barry over the side on a chair. Iris leaps off uncuffs Barry from his meta hand cuffs and Barry rushes them to the ground where Nora just so happens to be waiting. She seems really impressed with her mother's heroics which is in line with her character much like I said earlier. No more bratty and self entitled Nora please Flash writers??
Also throughout the episode Caitlin with the help of Ralph Sherloque Wells and Cisco continues the search for her father. She gets Cisco to vibe and he actually ends up seeing her father in a university room. Turns out Professor Stein knew her dad but never mentioned it to Caitlin or even his wife Clarissa before he passed away. Later as Cisco vibes again he finds out a clue which the gang solve to be that Caitlin's father was the one responsible for her creation. Cisco pays the cost in the end as when he vibes he hurts his body to the point where he ends up passing out. He knew he was suffering but wanted to help his friend which leads to a genuinely sweet scene between Cisco and Caitlin. The episode comes to a close as in the main Star Labs room Cisco manages to get the 4 main satellite's that Devoe used back online. This will aid the team in finding out the impact point where Cicada got his powers and aid also in tracking down Caitlin's father.
I enjoyed this episode overall. It's probably the weakest thus far due to various issues like Nora's slight character change. And Ragdoll being just a little underwhelming. But overall it isn't bad and does entertain.
