Supergirl 4x5 : Parasite Lost review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it
This week's episode of Supergirl begins a top a building after Kara seemingly in one day helped an outdoor garden bloom. She is joined by all her friends and family as they share a nice day out with a couple of drinks. Speaking of drinks Brainiac-5 gets drunk after mistaking the drinks for vegetable juice which was funny. Kara is congratulated by everyone on landing an interview with a spiritual healer of aliens named Amadei who hasn't given an interview in over 20 years. As Kara and her assistant go to visit him they are treated to one of his miracles up close as he heals a boy in a wheelchair. He aids him by helping him to walk again much to the disbelief of his mom. Kara interviews him and finds out that while he can heal aliens he can't heal humans yet but one day he hopes to heal the human heart.
Back at the DEO and Alex is greeted by her new superior colonel who wants her to do things by the book. Her first mission is to apprehend agent Jensen who as we saw at the ending of last week's episode has been infected with the parasite virus from season 2. With him violently unstable to begin with Jensen takes the powers and form of aliens and humans a like leaving nothing but husks in his wake. As he continues to do so his body eventually begins to break down as it can't handle the change it is going through. Ben Lockwood (Agent Liberty) comes up with a way to help him deal with this problem. Steal Amadei's amulet that helps him heal aliens. With the amulet now in Jensen's possession he is able to transfer powers with no reaction other than that of fully controlled powers. Much like in season 2 Alex comes up with a plan to stop parasite with nuclear energy but must find an isolated location to do so. Her the colonel and Brainiac-5 eventually come up with a plan of making an energy dome trapping parasite inside of it. But with time running out to stop him Alex actually ends up making him surrender leaving agent Jensen's brain completely flat lined in the process. Back at the DEO and the colonel tells Alex that she should be proud of what she achieved but hopes she will never disobey her again. She even tells Alex that Jonn Jones was a terrible leader for the DEO and it was her that ultimately made the call for him to stand down. Alex responds and tells her that he is one of the greatest people she knows and that he is family. The colonel seems unconvinced as both salute one another.
The episodes ends as James Olsen rings up Ben Lockwood as they both talked earlier in the episode at an event for Guardian presented by the mayor. Ben is strong on wanting the people to hail Guardian as a hero of the people. A hero who will stand up against the aliens. James thinks otherwise but evidently ends up ringing Ben as the episode ends. No idea where this is going but it is an interesting way to end the episode. More on Jonn Jones now however and he solves the mystery of Amadei's amulet and ends up actually reuniting him with his daughter in the process. Her mother had kept her from him due to him leaving her and breaking her heart in the process. Later at a bar Jonn gets tasked with another alien dilemma which looks like he's going to be doing for a bit of this season which I don't mind as it could be interesting. I enjoyed this episode. The stakes felt high even if the ending was a little bit lackluster. Kara was super adorable as always and Jonn's ability to help others is incredibly like him. Until next week Kara!
