Ralph Breaks The Internet review

When I first saw Wreck It Ralph back in 2012 I was blown away by it's many video game references and cameos and still to this day it is a fantastic animated movie. But now with it's sequel which takes a big leap into the wide open world of the internet can it be just as impressive? well yes and no. Ralph and Vanellope are back and after 6 years of doing their day to day lives inside of the games arcade they decide to go on a big important adventure to save Vanellope's game by getting a new steering wheel for the human players after Ralph accidentally has a hand in breaking the current wheel by attempting to spice up the game for his friend. It's a simple set up that honestly flys by and boy oh boy once our 2 hero's enter the world of the internet it is game on (no pun intended)

Inside of the internet you got references at every single corner. I'm not even sure anyone could see them all at once there really is so many. You got Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Buzzzfeed the list goes on. But also you have the bad side of the internet like constant pop ups, viruses and even the dark web gets a mention and a visit from Ralph later into the movie. While the visuals here are absolutely stunning and add so much variety the real shining light of the movie is the relationship between Ralph and Vanellope. Once again voiced by John C. Reily and Sarah Silverman the two are a joy to watch on screen and their voices really go together incredibly well. The pacing for the most part is also great as once the internet is introduced the movie seems to just fly by much like Ralph and Vanellope do while attempting to cross the world wide web.
With the inclusion of Gal Gadot as a badass racer chick and plenty of internet references and even more video game ones to boot Ralph Breaks The Internet is a worthy follow up to it's older sibling. The relationship between the two hero's is a joy to behold and there is more than enough cameo's and references here for all viewers to get and be like hey I understand that. It also is a bit darker in tone in parts which surprised me but it wasn't anything that could disrupt the movie in any way. Especially when an all manner of Disney princesses make some really delightful cameos. The original Wreck It Ralph will always be a movie I hold dear but with this sequel I can say now that I will do the same for this movie. Good job Ralph you really scored a touchdown with this one.
