Supergirl 3x18 : Shelter From The Storm review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it

This week's episode of Supergirl begins as we see James and Lena who having spent the night together talk a bit before being interrupted by Reign who breaks in through the window looking Ruby. Lena manages to subdue her before telling her that she'll never find Ruby before Reign ultimately fly's always leaving both James and Lena a little bit shook. Back at the DEO members of The Legion prepare to return to their original time period after dealing with Pestilence in last week's episode. Mon-El doesn't seem so sure of going and Imra can tell as him and Kara say their goodbye's Imra is watching them and you can tell she knows of his feelings for Kara still. Brainiac-5 finally reverts to his original form and gives Winn a going away present. A jar of earth dirt from the 31st century. This is no ordinary dirt as it's later revealed Brainiac-5 used it as a way to bug the DEO. Speaking of the DEO Kara and Jonn learn of Reign's next target and it's her own house that she grew up in. So they both go and pay her adoptive mother a visit. Turns out she knew that there was something wrong with Samantha from a young age as she would draw symbols everywhere. And one of those symbols? well it's the mark of the world killer. She tells Jonn and Kara that she was a bad mother. That she threw Sam out when she needed her the most. Not long after this Reign shows up and everyone finds out that she's gotten the combined powers of all 3 World Killers. She ends up seriously injuring Jonn and flat out murders her adoptive mother. Before she passes away back at the DEO she tells Supergirl to tell Sam that she should have been there for her and that she loves both her and her granddaughter Ruby.

Speaking of Ruby it's learned exactly where she is being kept and it's at Lex Luthor's hidden mansion basically in the middle of nowhere as a special code number is used to access it given that it's invisible to the naked eye. Alex goes to pay her a visit and Ruby keeps questioning her about her mom but Alex is determined not to tell her the truth. As Alex has to leave the room for a minute Ruby uses her phone to call her mom and this is when Reign hears her voice as she is flying around trying to pick up any sort of signal for her. Ruby calling her is a dead giveaway and Reign goes to Lex's mansion where she is greeted by Supergirl Alex and a returning Mon-El. Yes it turns out that with a Legion member present Kara and everyone else will have a greater chance of defeating Reign according to Brainiac-5. So Mon-El talks with Imra and and she tells him to stay and come back to her if and only if he desires to do so which was interesting given that they are married. At Lex's mansion however a massive fight takes place and during it Reign's mask falls off and this is when Ruby sees her mother's face. Taken back by this she completely loses it and has to be consoled by Alex. This leads to Mon-El and Supergirl managing to actually take out Reign with Kryptonite that was provided by Lena Luthor. Reigns is apprehended and brought back to the same place where Lena had been keeping her a few weeks back.
The episode ends as we see Kara in an elevator before someone calls out for her to keep it open. It's Lena Luthor who is going to pay Ruby a visit. Kara who just so happens to be doing the same thing talks with Lena in the elevator ride up and you can see Lena begin to really question Kara after she mentions that James broke into Lena's office after Supergirl told him to do so. Kara says she probably had a good reason before Lena hits back with it's never good to meet your idols and right away Kara's face drops before the elevator opens and Lena walks ahead to greet Ruby. It's only a matter of time before Lena learns that Kara is Supergirl I think and I really can see Lena becoming a villain of some sorts which could be very interesting. This episode was another very solid episode of Supergirl and right now this show is flying well above The Flash and Arrow in some aspects. Until next week Kara!
