Supergirl 3x17 : Trinity review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it

This week's episode of Supergirl begins at the DEO as we see pretty much all members of the group questioning Lena Luthor about the whole Sam / Reign situation. Kara especially looks very upset with her given how much trust she put in Lena and how she thought they were friends. It's very much like a betrayal to Kara and it shows in her eyes as Lena still gets questioned she reveals that she managed to subdue Reign with Kryptonite from a vault that Lex Luthor had which she ended up getting once the company was bought out by her. This further pushes Kara over the edge even to the point where she questions the foundation on which their relationship was built on. Speaking of Sam / Reign everyone pretty much knows the connection between the two now even James who Lena ends up calling as she feels boxed in by what is happening around her. More on this whole situation later.

The 3 World Killers finally together and united begin a sacred ritual that will bring an eclipse onto the earth leaving it in darkness. This isn't good for Kara however who has to have the sun to control and power her. She right away feels the effects of this and faints while talking to Lena. But something interesting does happen as she faints she ends up in the same place where Samantha went in the last episode. The Reign dimension as I like to call it. Winn seems baffled by this and questions just how Supergirl managed to end up in the Reign dimension. While there Kara sees both Sam and Julia (2 of 3 World Killers) and this leads to Brainiac-5 coming up with an idea. He plans to transfer Supergirl's consciousness to the Reign dimension. Lena and Alex also come along for the ride and find the World Killer from last week's human form dead within seconds of arriving. Kara really begins to feel the strain inside the Reign Dimension as it is complete darkness inside for the most part. They eventually come across Sam who seems to really be close to fully becoming Reign. She's losing memories looking nervous and at breaking point. Supergirl Alex and Lena manage to talk her human form into broadcasting the signal of the World Killer's fortress and they get pulled back out leading to a full on raid on the fortress. As the eclipse continues to grow stronger Kara ends up being weakened to the point where she can't properly defend herself against Reign. Alex (complete with a badass new suit and gun) manages to subdue Reign for a bit but it's Purity who is the eventual hero as Kara and Alex manage to talk to her human side Julia Freeman. She uses her sonic scream to try and destroy both Reign and Pestilence but to no avail as she is stabbed and killed by Pestilence but not before she literally screams Pestilence's face off leaving both World Killers dead and only Reign remaining. But in all the chaos both their powers seem to get transferred to Reign who looks stronger than ever.
The episode ends as Lena talks with Kara some more before going to see James who tells her that he is Guardian and he broke into her vault (he actually didn't well not completely) and she seems really taken back by this. I wonder if this show will make Lena a full on villain next season? I'd like to see it. A Luthor vs a a member of the El family is always so much fun to watch. I really enjoyed this episode sure it wasn't as good as the last 2 weeks but it was still a really fun entry into the season. Until next week Supergirl!
