Love,Simon review

Everyone deserves a proper love story in their life. One that they'll remember forever and ever but for Simon Spier it's a little more complicated than that. Love,Simon tells the story of the before mentioned Simon Spier a normal run of the mill guy going to high school. He hangs out with his friends chills with his family and does everything else a normal guy of his age would do. But he's got one big secret..he's gay!

Love,Simon is directed by Greg Berlanti (Arrow, Flash and Supergirl fame) and it captures the nature of one coming out to not only their parents but their friends absolutely perfect. You really do feel for Simon throughout the movie and it helps as he is played to perfection by Nick Robinson. He's incredibly likable at first but there's so much more to the character than just meets the eye it really is amazing. He is backed by some really good performances from his fellow cast mates including Jennifer Garner who plays his mom and Josh Duhamel who plays his father. They all share a really good bond on screen and they are really believable as a family. Keiynan Lonsdale also shines here showing a much softer side to his Kid Flash persona that he plays on The Flash and Legends Of Tomorrow respectively. Everyone does a good job here and it's really evident right from the get go that his movie is really important. It puts the ordeal of coming out at the front of it all and the hardship some people face coming out seems real and genuine especially Simon who tries to continuously tell both his friends and family throughout but it's a massive burden on him. His mom actually says it perfectly to him it's like he was holding his breath and when he finally comes out in what was a really emotional scene not just for me but I noticed a lot of people in the cinema feeling the same way it was like a sigh of relief had washed over Simon and it like's he was able to breath again.
Love,Simon is a really special movie and while not for everyone it can be a real smile inducer at times, backed by a stunning soundtrack that helps in moving the pace along quite quickly. This is a hidden gem of a movie that should be talked about for many years to come. It's impossible not to Love Simon after seeing this!
