Avengers Infinity War review
The infinity war to end all infinity wars has arrived and is it worth the wait? the movie the MCU has been building towards for the past 10 years is here and it will definitely please hardcore fans of the MCU but for the more casual movie goers I think it may just be another superhero movie that while is action packed relies way too heavily on silly jokes and pace grinding moments.
The performances here are as you'd expect flawless. All the actors present are well into their roles in the MCU and it shows. Robert Downey Jr is his usually brilliant self as Tony Stark planning to finally wed Pepper Potts it looks like he may be finally settling down.. Benedict Cumberbatch gets to flex his magical muscle a lot more which was great to see, he plays a whole host of magical tricks on both the good guys and the bad guys. Tom Holland is as good as ever as Spiderman. Complete with a completely upgraded Iron Spider get up he really is brilliant in the role. Everyone else is also really good here and they all pull their weight in what is arguably the biggest superhero movie ever put to production. But in my opinion it's Josh Brolin as the Mad Titan Thanos in full motion capture is the real highlight. The movie starts off with the perfect introduction to his plan and ultimate goal of obtaining all 6 infinity stones. Brolin commands the screen whenever he appears and he really is portrayed as a serious threat to not only The Avengers but every other character in the MCU.
The pacing overall is good for the most part but it's whenever the Guardians Of The Galaxy appear on screen it all just goes south or at least it did for me. The constant jokes just aren't funny and while one or two do raise a smile for the most part it's more of an annoyance more than anything. The action sequences are absolutely spectacular and are indeed worth the price of admission alone. You got mass brawls, one on one fights between Thanos and various hero's and it's all put together so well by the directors the Russo Brothers that it's really hard not to find yourself getting really sucked into it all at times. And as for the ending? well at the time of writing this I'm still trying to wrap my head around it all. I'm not really an avid reader of Marvel comics by any means so it just left me kinda confused a little bit but as I said at the beginning this will not disappoint hardcore MCU fans and they will have a blast. Infinity War is a big achievement in bringing so many characters together at once and they all interact and develop along side each other in a unique way. All in all I did enjoy this but various things stopped it from being the epic movie that it once promised to become. Avengers dissembled. They will reassemble once again in 2019!
