Arrow 6x17 : Brothers In Arms review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it

I can't believe what I'm about to say but Arrow went and did it. They delivered one of the best and most emotional based episodes of any DC show this season. The episode begins as we see an SCPD truck led by Dinah who are on the hunt for Anatoli and his men. After learning of their location they go to try and take him in finally. Green Arrow and Spartan are also on hand and help with the successful arrest. Back at SCPD and Captain Hill questions Dinah about the arrest and while she doesn't seem too impressed she tells her that she did a good job. Of course all of this is short lived as the D.A. walks into the room and tells Oliver that Anatoli is to be let go ASAP as there is no real evidence against him. Both Captain Hill and the D.A are under Diaz's thumb as we know but this angers Oliver to no end and Dinah also who just felt like she accomplished something really important. Later at his office Oliver calls both Captain Hill and the D.A into the room and fires them on the spot. He tells them that he knows what they are doing and they are working for Diaz. They tell him they are being blackmailed into it but it doesn't change Oliver's mind as he still fires them both.

Diaz continues to push Vertigo throughout the city and as Oliver Felicity and Diggle continue to search for his main base of operations so they can ultimately take it out Dig and Oliver continue to butt heads over the whole Green Arrow situation. Dig goes to pay his wife Lyla a visit and he tells her that the whole situation shouldn't even matter to him but it does and it matters in spades. Back at the bunker later in the episode and Oliver and Dig really do come to blows as Dig tells Oliver some home truths in what was a really brilliant scene acted to perfection by both men. Dig tells him that ever since he put on that hood it's been all about Oliver. And while Oliver may try to make it seem different it really isn't as he says he is only really in this for himself and that isn't the kind of hero Star City deserves. He even mentions that William (Oliver's son)'s mother would be here today if it wasn't for him and his selfish actions. This is when Oliver stands up and says that he may have victims that were close to him but at least one of them isn't his own brother. And this is when the two begin to really duke it out only broke up by Felicity who runs into the bunker and talks them out of things eventually cooling them down. She says she got the location of the Vertigo and that they should be prepared to take it out. There's a whole brotherhood theme running throughout the episode and honestly I loved every second of it.
Speaking of Vertigo however Dig and Oliver head out and end up destroying Diaz's main stash leaving him with next to nothing left to push throughout the city. Later back at the bunker after a job well done Dig tells Oliver that he can longer be part of his cause as he needs to find himself and become his own man. Oliver agrees and they both go their separate ways in what was a real emotional scene. Oliver and Dig have been the backbone of this show ever since it began and it'll be weird to not see them working together even if it is short lived. Back at Felicity's place and Oliver gets a call from Quentin to turn on the news to which he does. Turns out Captain Hill and the D.A want Mayor Queen impeached over what he has done to them as they view it as a wrong act. While everyone is watching the news however we see Diaz and Black Siren together. Diaz shows her something and it's Vertigo he has one vial left. The two make out and and that's where the episode ends.  I loved this episode. It done everything right in my opinion. From it's character development to it's action set pieces to everything else in between this is Arrow at it's absolute best.
