Arrow 6x12 : All For Nothing review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it
This week's episode begins as Oliver Dinah and Quentin along with other members of the SCPD are on the shoreline after Oliver asks for Argus's help in tracking and ultimately taking down Cayden James and his crew. Things don't go as planned of course as a number of deep sea divers are electrocuted through their communications by Cayden killing them in the process. This opening seemed kind of out of place at least to me but trust me everything else about this episode is really really good. Back in his office and we learn that Cayden James has already gotten 70 million dollars from Oliver which has already almost left the city bankrupt. This causes Thea to try and get some more money out of congress and other political members all while also helping Quentin with his Laurel problem. Yes Black Siren is now apparently following Lance this causes Lance and Thea to trick Laurel into a room that they have filled with memories of Laurel from Earth 1, Black Siren looks taken back by this but eventually loses it and screams saying that she is not Quentin's daughter. More on Black Siren later.
This episode mainly features around Dinah and Vince (Vigilante) and his ongoing investigation of Cayden James and his crew. We're also treated to some flashbacks of Dinah and Vince in Central City 5 years prior. Right away those two clicked and worked so well together. The flashbacks don't offer much in terms of forwarding the story in present day but they were a good addition nonetheless. While they are all at the bunker Felicity suggests that Vince plant a sniffer on Cayden's main server so that they can transfer his data to them and this is where the episode really picks up the pace as Vince infiltrates the main server room and is caught by James, he manages to talk his way out of it but eventually is caught and tortured by Anatoli. As the data comes through the team learn of Cayden James's bomb location that he as been moving throughout the city, all while this is happening Vince's comms are somehow activated which leads Oliver to make a big decision. Go rescue Vince with Curtis Dinah and Rene or him and Dig go find that bomb and take it out. He chooses the bomb as he values the city over just one life. As the battle intensifies Vince gets impaled by a giant metal rod. With Dinah unable to help him as she is buried under rubble Black Siren finishes Vince off leaving Dinah heartbroken in the process. Black Siren killing Vince also plays into the Quentin storyline as he thought earlier that he had her feeling a little remorse after showing her footage of Earth 1 Laurel. She did sort of look a bit off when she was ordered to kill Vince by Cayden James almost hesitant at first. It's all amazing storytelling.
This episode was like a freight train that just didn't want to stop. It's filled with so much action and excitement but also has some really dramatic moments to boot. This is easily one of my favorite episodes this season and since it's came back from the winter break Arrow has really stepped up it's game. Long may Oliver keep hitting that bulls eye!
